My central locking doesnt seem to work, it "sometimes" works from the inside of the car, but when i use my clifford remote it doesnt actually lock the doors? Just sets the alarm....It makes a noise as if its trying to lock but it doesnt actually lock!!

I have no idea what it could be? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Cheers,

Maybe the little bent coathanger wire bit that goes from the solenoid and actually operates the lock mechanism has come off? Just take the doorcard off and have a looksee

my money is on the above or one of the plastic guide clips the coathanger runs through

same thing\'s happening to me. It turns out that the short cable joining the alarm/motor to the door lock has snapped. (quite a common problem apperently) maybe yours has done the same thing? Mine unlocks ok but wont lock the drivers side.

hope this was of some help

I had a similar problem but not on an FD, that turned out to be a Micro switch in the door handle.

Had a very similar problem with mine turned out to be a actuator fitted in the drivers door take the door card off and check the actuator.

heres the thread about my problem

Thankyou all for your replies...

I\'ve been tinkering with it this morning, and have managed to get it to unlock via the remote, it just wont lock?! Im baffled!!!

Seems like theres not enough pressure/power to move the pin upwards? Could the solenoid or actuator be failing? (broken?)

D1 WTF

had this problem on a 106, where it had a little electric solenoid to lock the boot.  so when i tried to lock it, it sounded like it was trying but it didn\'t have the force to move it.  the cogs inside where just knackered.  replaced it from one in a scrap yard and hay presto.  Cant remember if FD\'s have a similar system or not though.
IF YOU DIDN\'T CARE YOU WOULDN\'T BE LOOKING

Just take the door panel off and have a look, it\'s only a couple of screws and clips.

If it\'s a snapped cable you\'ll see it immediately.

ive done that and its not a snapped cable

Does the solenoid move at all? Have you checked the wiring into it with a multi meter (see if its getting juice)?

I had this problem and it turned out to be the motor from the alarm powering the solenoid.  Used to play havoc with my windows as well sometimes.  Check theres nothing water damaged in the door (electrics).

where is the solenoid and what does it look like? im no good at bits like this lol
