I need your help chaps as I\'m in two minds.......

I\'ve had some really helpful advice from Stacy concerning making Neville more inclined to take a corner without being attracted to greenery, but would like to make him more spritely aswell. I\'m not talking about anything crazy at the mo because I\'m doing my house up too.

So, the obvious way to start would be put him on a diet and move onto the engine when funds allow, and this is my quandry....

Do I

1. Strip him out and enter an all out weight loss program, I only use him for pleasure so no real practicality issues.

2. Not do that as he is pretty tidy inside and out and maybe leave it till next year when more funds are available to concentrate on the engine.

I really like stripped out no nonsense cars, my Delta Turbo was and I loved it- but I\'d like some 3rd party points of view so any input would be appreciated, positive or negative...I\'m all ears!

redgti

don\'t strip it, they\'re great for about 10 mins then the novelty wears off unless your really only use it for having fun in and nothing else. I had my swift gti stripped when i was 18 and loved it wouldn\'t do it now though.

get some uprated anti roll bars and suspension bud. maybe some strut braces and decent tyres and it will stick like .... to a stick
fduk.

As he said. Tires of coice would be Toyo 888s
If you strip, you can get carried away as we did with our race car. 1st off I would remove the carpet and then the sound deadning stuff and then put the carpet back in. To give you an idea when we had the race car it was 800kg with full cage and perspex windows and fibreglass bonnet(i can still do those)

I\'m gonna stick with the 110x4 setup for the short term,  I\'ve got a mate who runs a tyre place-he is sorting me out with some R888\'s 185/60/13\'s for a pretty good price. Like I said I dont use it for anything remotely practical as I have four kids so it is literally just used for fun so I would be interested in the perspex windows route aswell.......are they still available do you know, and did you do the quarterlights and tailgate or just the side windows. Let me know details of the fiberglass bonnet situation too...price etc. And could you do carbon fibre effect:evillaugh

Cheers for the input so far guys keep it coming

Hi Mate,

Try http://www.plastics4performance.co.uk/ for perspex - I\'ve used them before (not for RX gear tho) and they were cheap, fast, and the end result was very very good. Be careful on perspex, it crazes over time and they have alternative materials which are nearly indistinguishable from glass with better longevity.

I had a fibreglass bonnet made just for me, should have spoken to Brian if he has a mould ready to go!

Other quick ways to save weight;

1. Anything from the wheel/tyre assembly - anything you pull out which is rotating at wheel speed has a 3x multiplier. Ie pull 1kg a corner, and that\'s the equivalent of 12kg from the sprung mass. (For ref engine speed is 10x)
2. Battery - replacing your 12kg unit with a 5kg gel offering (keep it charged!).
3. There\'s a lot of sound deadening as Brian says - but it\'s an arse to remove.
4. Plastic windows - also weight which is high up.
5. Remove the heater.
6. Have your friend Alan fabricate up copies of your light pods in aluminium, and replace the electric motors with manual clips. All that sits up front.
7. Lose the rear seats, spare wheel etc.
8. Carbon fibre prop.
9. Replace your steel bumpers with alluminium replicas.
10. Skip breakfast.

All depending on desperation/budget/time/being arsed.

Hi Stacy, as you can see it has gone from a rebush to maybe something a bit more major! I\'m happy to faff around all day long taking anything off/out which\'ll help my poor 12a out. With regards to the headlight motors-any idea where I stand MOT wise if the lights have to be manually raised? Anyhow, if I go this route I just as well do it properly. If I switch to a 5kg battery can it still say at the front or is it worth putting it in the back?

Oh dear.:2eek

stacy

Hmm - No idea on the MOT I\'m afraid, might have to look it up?

Re: the battery. The basics of it are that the further away it is and the longer the cable, the weaker the cranking power. I\'d just leave it where it is, but do check the cranking requirements on the one you swap it out with.

Otherwise you can add a reloom removing all extraneous wires too - you\'ll be there for a loooong time Sir!

I asked the question at my MOT place and the answer is no,they have to be fully operational from the driving position so I\'m tempted to get it MOT\'d then remove them and worry about the following year when it happens! Maybe an intricate string and pulley system:Giggle

There was a vendor who made custom headlamp covers etc but I cant recall his name-he had a tasty SA if memory serves me right with a carbon bonnet. I may have dreamt it tho so who knows!

Sod that!! Spend my life messing around with cable I\'m not going to choose to do it at home!

Just fix them in the up position befor you go for MOT. They wont know the difference

Definatley interested!

stacy

205\'s will go on a 6.5", but if you\'re giving it stick they to tend to move around.. I tried them, then went back to 185.
