Help!

When my engine comes up to temperature it chokes and cuts out!

I have a Power Fc and Commander, the commander is showing the Temperature of water and air, but as it warms up and stalls, the temperature display turns to ---- ???

I have installed a new live wire from the ecu to the water temp sensor and all reads ok when engine is cool!

Help!

DMDRIFTING

Is anybody here that might know?

Many thanks
Duncan

Will try running a new earth to sensor tomorrow!

nikp

Sure you\'re taking the wire to the correct temp sensor? The coolant temp sensor is the one under the oil filter.

DMDRIFTING

Had been pointed in the wrong direction by the RAC fella.

As you said, the one on the front is the coolant level sensor!

Spoken with Geoff and he\'s ordered a new Water Temp Sensor for me, arrives on tuesday!

Will update post when fitted

DMDRIFTING

Grabbed the new sensor off Geoff today, fitted it tonight in the rain ha ha

Seemed ok so took it for a drive, same thing happening?????

Water Temp reaches 96 degrees on the commander and then it loses signal and displays ----  ????

Also displays ---- on air temp when this happens??????

Left it to cool, returned water temp displaying 40 degrees started fine and drove fine but just moved it back onto my drive..

PLEASE HELP ANY DIRECTION GREATLY APPRECIATED

Gonna try a standard ecu tomorrow..

Update!

Have run a new earth/ground, from the temp sensor to the ground sensor, on the pinouts of the ecu!

When the car reaches 90 degrees it won\'t rev past 3000rpm and burbles and pops, will do this for a while then eventually cuts out??

Noticed this time that the boost display also dropped out to ----  ???

Gonna try the standard ecu now!

DMDRIFTING

Hello all,

no ideas????

I have just replaced the Apexi Power FC with a Standard ECU and the problem is still there??

Have run a additional earth from the Water Temp Sensor to the \'Sensor Ground\' on the Loom! (Only spliced into)

Should I remove the old part of the loom?

civicboy28

I have the same problem with the Water Temp Sensor. But mine drops below 0 degress and red -14 and then richens up the car so much it floods and fails up the plugs.

I also run apexi comander and see it on there.

DMDRIFTING

How is the Apexi ECU Earthed?

Can i splice into the ecu loom grounds and run new earths for them?

Grizzly

A wile back a mate had a Problem a bit like yours (his Intermittently went off at highish rpm) his turned out to be a bad plug on the Sensor. After a bit of messing about we fixed it by cable tying the plug to the sensor.

DMDRIFTING

Mine is\'nt clipping in very well lol

If thats the problem im gonna cry and laugh :Hammer

Gonna cable tie it up right now and see what the score is
