Hi all.
file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5CJason%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml">  I have just discovered a leaky wheel valve. The problem is that the valve is part of the wheel and not the tyre. It is a solid metal valve bent at a right angle to the wheel rim.
This means that as it is a specialised part for the wheel none of the tyre shops can replace it! Has anyone else had this problem and if so where did you get your wheel valve from?

cheers

jason.

Motorcycle spares shops or eBay :)

Can you not just replace the valve inside the body?

That\'s what I\'m going to do. I have to get hold of a new valve first. So far every alloy wheel shop has said they can\'t help!

Yep i had/have this problem on the advans.... Couldn\'t be bothered to look around so just had the standard rubber ones fitted instead, less hassle tbh...

That\'s what I want to do, but the tyre people have all said that it can\'t be done. I can\'t see why not.

If you fit stock valves you can have problems with them hitting the brake caliper as the wheel rotates. :)

I bought a couple of angled valves for my Advan wheels from the chap here:

Fitted no problem, just a pain they cost so much.

Never though of that tbh lol, will have to check mine now :D

Had mine all changed at kwik fit cos the angled ones all leaked and was fed up of pumping the tyres up every other day. They didn\'t have a problem doing it

i had this problem too with the mazdaspeed ms-02s. i ordered some of the angled ones
however there was too much projecting into the airspace, almost touching the inside of the lowprofile tyres so couldn\'t fit them (deemed too dangerous by the tyre fitters). I ended up refurbing the original 90-deg stems and replacing the valves inside them. it is working for now.

Thanks for the replies. I finally found an alloy wheel refurbisher to do them. At the moment he has put a straight rubber one in (which is fine by me) but is trying to find the correct replacements. Apparently, the set he ordered projected too far into the inside of the tyre and can be dangerous. He hasn\'t even charged me for the rubber valves as he thinks it\'s a temporary solution and wants to do the job properly.

Good business sense as I now feel obliged to use him to refurbish the wheels in the near future!!

I got mine from Kenvad Tyres in Worthing, but they did struggle to find any for a while. I got them to order me a whole bag of ten (not sure why they don\'t come in multiples of four, but there you go) so I don\'t have to worry about finding them in a hurry next time. Did cost around a hundred quid, though
