I am doing my Single conversion and removing my stock FPR to replace with an aftermarket one. I was also told I should remove the Fuel pulsation dampner which is fitted to the primary fuel rail.. Is this the case?
I read somewhere these are a fairly common failing point which can lead to engine bay fires? from that point of view I would say it\'s a good idea to get rid! Just want to make sure it will have no adverse effects to the running of my engine.

Thank you

The pulsation damper to to counteract the injector pulse when the injector fires, the reason why they cause fires is that they degrade over time and fail causing high pressure fuel to spray over the engine.

Thanks Mitch.. I know what the dampner does and why they sometimes fail.. I just want to know if I can remove it without any issues if I am running an aftermarket FPR.. I have been told it\'s fine to remove but wanted some mroe opinions/clarification.

Cheers

Hi,

I done this last week.

I fitted a Sard Primary Rail Adaptor to the fuel rail and went with a Sard FPR.
The OEM Reg is held on by two phillips head screws and the Adaptor fitted straight in.
All you need extra is some good fuel hose to finish off the Install.

Gonna be fitting an Aeromotive A1000-6 FPR and just wondering if the Sard adaptor for the stock rail as per the link is a standard AN-6 fitting ?

As for removal - depnds what you have in the way of an FPR - the Aeromotive A1000 FPR has an FPD built in to it, so it\'s perfectly safe to remove :)

Dont suppose anyone has a diagram of how to connect the A1000 up do they on the standard rails?

I\'m slightly confused by a couple of things.  Have read Atomicrex\'s different setup but think to be honest i\'ll be sticking with the standard for the time being as the tried and tested.

However, on the standard FPR there are 2 vacuum lines?? So, why are there 2 on the standard FPR but only 1 on the A1000 ? :2Confused:xconfused

Ok after doing some research, on the UK and American models, there is an additional solenoid valve called a PRC (Pressure Regulator Control) which is a solenoid that electronically cuts the vac line to the FPR on hot start to increase injector fuel pressure and for 1 minute following engine start up.  It\'s used to prevent vapour lock of the fuel and maintain consistent idle.

This is controlled via the fuel thermosensor, neutral switch, clutch switch and throttle position.

So basically has anyone disconnected this? i assume it shouldn\'t make any difference if it\'s not connected as it doesn\'t appear to go through the ECU and if it does, it\'s unlikely to be supported on the Apexi anyway ??

Anyone done this on their UK car??

Lee, did you manage to do this yet and dont suppose you can tell me what adaptor you used for the primary rail and where from as this is different to the secondary rail??

Mine is all done. I didn\'t use any adapters though.. I cut the dampner and FPR off the flanges and tig welded the tube and flange back together so it still uses the stock fitting!
If you can weld give that a whirl!

Yep that was my next thought too lol :) no worries, am getting a Greddy adaptor for the secondary but yeah will weld up the old damper adaptor assuming i can get the rail off, cheers for the reply :)
