Hi,

Im very new to rotory\'s and wondering how safe are single turbo rx7\'s running jap fuel maps in the uk.

If the engine\'s compression is good would it be a safe single rx7 to buy even when the car has been running on the jap fuel map for a few thousand? I would have it remapped in the uk or have the owner do it but the fact its been on the jap fuel at .8 to .9bar Im abit worried.

I have been told it will be fine and I can beleive so  but I just want to double check.

Thanks

Archbish

I wouldn\'t frankly...  I believe the octane is lower in the UK, and as such, the chances of you detonating are much higher, esp if you give the car a bit of oomph.  Get a remap at one of the reputable tuners (I don\'t know anyone in Scotland, but that\'s only because I live waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay south... :D)

Good luck and enjoy your beasty!

UK fuel is fine mate. As long as you dont track or like too drive the car with full throttle. If it was then you\'d know about it because it would have blown!

If this car has been driven for a few thousand then it should be fine, chances are the last owner has been driving the car conservatively which is only a good thing. However, if you want to buy the car and do track days etc then get it mapped so you can give the car abuse with no engine blowing!

I drove my jap 400 bhp fd on shell v power for like 8000 miles before I had her mapped.

Am getting re worx(Im guessing there good right?) to map it while an down, hopefully in 2 weeks.

Any other minor things I should look for because the cars not really been driven in the last 2-3years?
