UPDATED LIST - FOUR PLACES LEFT AT DISCOUNTED PRICES

^^^^That\'s brilliant Clive. No excuses now, get your credit cards out and get over to the MRC shop! this is an unbelievable bargain at £119 for a full trackday. Motorsportvision charges £119 for a half-day or evening session, so we\'re getting two sessions for the price of one!

As Clive said, I\'ve especially chosen Cadwell Park as a better venue to reach for those in the Midlands and the North, knowing Brands Hatch was always a trek for those the wrong side of London. If we don\'t get a better response than this, it\'s back to Brands next time (which is easier for me!) - we got 17 of us at BH last year at almost the same time of year and had a fantastic day out. Only 6 takers here so far :3Confused

^^^Well done Clive!

In case there are any trackday virgins out there who are considering this event, I was asked a few questions by an RX8OC member, so it\'s probably worth posting the same information here....

"In answer to your queries and concerns, there will be qualified instructors available throughout the day, at extra cost, typically £25 for a 20 minute session. You can book as many sessions as you like. Additionally, Ian (Hypothermia) is coming along, sans car, as photographer and has said he\'d be happy to go out as a passenger as well. Equally, when my car is cooling down, I\'d be more than happy to go out with you as a passenger to give advice, and/or you can passenger in my car. I\'m no expert, but I\'ve done 5 trackdays now (Brands Hatch and Thruxton). I\'ve not driven Cadwell Park before, but it\'s run by the same outfit (MotorSportVision) who run Brands Hatch, so I\'m expecting the format of the day to be very similar.

Typically the the day will run something like this;
1. Safety briefing. It is compulsory to attend this and each person will get a wristband to confirm attendance. No wristband, no entry to the circuit as these are checked by marshalls at the exit of the pitlane. The briefing will cover the lines around the circuit, overtaking etiquette (strictly by invitatiojn only) marshall\'s flags and other items. If you\'ve watched any F1 or BTCC racing on TV, the flags are exactly the same.
2. Everyone will have to go out in their car for 2-3 laps in small groups behind a pace car. At "sedate" speed the racing lines around the circuit will be demonstrated.
3. The track is opened up for the morning session of around 3 hours. You can go out as often as you like, for as long as you like ("open pitlane"), but the marshalls may hold you back at the pitlane exit if they consider there are too many cars on circuit at one time. Given that most cars/people will only be able to stay out for 15-20 minutes at a time before the car and they need a rest, then this isn\'t much of a problem. You\'ll find the car will need at least the same amount of time in the pits to cool off as on track.
4. They\'ll be a break for lunch of about an hour, which may also entail a trip to top up fuel.
5. The afternoon session of around 3 hours.
6. Chequered flag waved to signify end of the day!

If you drive at the speed you feel confortable with, follow the safety and marshall instructions, and don\'t stay out longer than 20 minutes then there really is minimal chance of any damage. Trackdays are not races, the purpose is for everyone to enjoy their cars at speed in a safe environment. I\'ve been very impressed by the safety aspects at all the trackdays I\'ve attended. Should any driver be seen to be driving unsafely, he/she is quickly "black flagged" and spoken to (but this is very rare!!).

Helmets are compulsory and are available for hire for ~£10 for the day. No special clothing is required.

If anyone has any queries, then please post them here (or PM me) and I\'ll do my best to answer them"

One other thing to remember when the car is cooling down don\'t put the handbrake on. The heat and clampling force will warp the discs !

Can\'t wait. Need some better brake fluid and pads though !

I warn you, once you\'ve done your first trackday there\'s no looking back! The trackday bug is hard to cure. Look forward to seeing you later THIS month - yes, it\'s getting closer;)

BTW, very nice looking FD you have there.

Don\'t say that!, my pockets arn\'t deep enough to be doing these all the time.
And yes preperations are underway to sort my car out ready for the big day. Cant wait now.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Quote from: Casey;611791Just booked for Ian (Hypothermia) and I to stay Thursday night at this hotel;

http://thebeaumonthotel.co.uk/

It\'s in Louth, about 7 miles from Cadwell. Single rooms at £40 B&B seemed a reasonable deal. They\'ve still got some rooms available if anyone else is still looking for an overnight room.

Just booked a room for Clive!!

i have also managed to get another member to renew their membership and will be booking once its processed,     that should leave 1 place.

looking forward to it but not the 3.5 hour drive towing the car.  Early start for me!,  dont think i\'m going to stay over night,  i\'d be paranoid that someone would hook up the trailer and bugger off the with the kit car and the trailer!  Unless of course you guys could all block me in:)

Google maps gives 2 options, the A14 and the M11, (although both involve the M11) the A14 route looks a little more direct and is 9 miles shorter but the roads looks a little twisty.  The route shown as M11 looks less complicated.  I\'ll just listen to Tom Tom i think

The last time I did an MoT event it was effectively a "Badged" MSV event, so I\'m 99% expecting the timings to be exactly the same as that on the MSV website. I will 100% confirm that with the MoT people nearer the date.

AA routeplanner is telling me I have a 3.5hour journey to Cadwell as well, so I\'m staying overnight :Snoring to be fresh the next day:driving!

It looks as though the bookings are going quite slowly for this event (still 16 places left after our 10 and other bookings), so we might be able to grab a few more slots once our allocated 10 are filled, BUT we need to fill the 10 first, as the current price we\'re paying depends on it!
