Hi, newbie here. I currently own a 1989 Golf GTI 16v, its a great car for the money but I have always wanted a s13 200sx or a fc RX7.

I have seen a fc locally for a grand with fsh and only 80k on the clock.

Is this the right site to find out about this car?

cheers,

MintyFresh

definately the right site to finds out about the car, but i dont know much about FC\'s.

I love the rotary, but if your spending a grand i\'d say get a descent S13 200sx.
I now own an FD after upgradsing from an S14a 200sx and the running costs have at least doubled.

Are you looking at an FC turbo? if u are and ur funds are limited then definately get the S13, its a better choice as a first RWD turbo car than a rotary just for repair costs and petrol.

Like i said i have full loyalty to them rotary engine and what they are capable of, but not enough people look at the downsides.

If your reading this and you\'ve got a few bob then by all means get the FC, IMO they look better and are definately rarer than 200sx\'s, just think about it.

hi, i have a FC turbo,

1k for a 80k seems fair enough, IF it has not had a rebuild yet, but if it has, then i would be very wary about it, by the looks of your name (d-1), i suppose you want to use it for drift competitions?? well i can say the FC is o so hard to drift, whereas the s13 is a much better choice for this for a beginner. you will see this if you go to the option drift days, me and a mate go quite often, but its just our FC\'s that go, but you will see the difference with FC and S13 for drift. but if your going for power and overall, then IMO the FC is the one to go for.

ok, a bit off topic, back to about the FC, like minty said so, its very expensive to run, with 80k on the clock and no rebuild, then prepare at least 2k for a rebuild as it is nearly on its way out i would say, mine was done at around 88k, but the previous owner just chucked in a new engine instead of the rebuild, costing him 1k for the engine, and he put it in himself. also, apart from this, being such an old car, be prepared for a lot more other things to go wrong. exhaust (mine is so rotten it looks like its been eaten by a whole infestation of rats), electricals, etc.

anyway, if you have the cash to run it, the FC is lovely to drive, and handling is amazing IMO. goodluck m8, any more questions feel free to ask,

For 1k, I\'m willing to bet its an EGi, if thats the case then its probably a bargin (Assuming you have proof of regular servicing etc).

If its a TII for that money then its either dead or bent.

if its an EGI then 80K isnt that bad to be honest - i paid 900 for mine with over 110K on the clock

you got anymore details about the car ??

and you are defo in the right place to ask the questions :)

whats a decent price to pay for an NA FC? What should you look out for

Brett

You should look in the Hints and tips on buying a rotary section.  Theres a sticky about 2nd gen cars.  Its all in there.
