MOT fail-help

My rx7 failed badly on the emissions.. will post up results later.. anyone got any help on how to get them sorted ?

I have a 93 rx7  the results off the sheet are

co allowed 0.3000 actual 8.686
 ppm limit 200 actual 619
 lambda min 0.97 max 1.6 actual 0.776

running rich on the old lamda,is the air pump still on?

well after checking out last mot details and this mot details it seems they have used a different test from the last time.  On this test it says it has a CAT but the last MOT test it says its a NON CAT ? On the pervious test the MAXlimits are different? have the laws changed since 07?

CO max level on the old mot was 3.15 were as this time the co level max was 0.300. The HC max level on the old one was 1200 and this time it was only 200?

does that make sense? does that mean i could maybe take it back and dispute test they did? as it would have had more chance off passing if they had done it like the last time..

ps the old test was done at wgt but unfortunetly i can\'t get there at the moment to get it done so used a local garage. grrr.

There are few post that explain the rules on emissions testing, the rules are slightly different for UK models and imports, imports not due a CAT test until late 95

mine is an import. so I can go back and say please test it again without a CAT & all that other harsh limits they have test it by?

whats the spec of your car john? I see you had a few problems with getting an MOT too? is yours a uk or import?

will have a look at some of the stuff you did on my car and see if that helps it any.

It does sound like it has been tested under the wrong rules - if it is a \'93 and an import, it should use the pre-cat limits (this applies to all imports pre \'95, iirc)

I should ring the MoT centre up and tell them they ran the wrong test - you may be able to get them to redo the test... won\'t hurt to ask, anyway

I use Farburn Motors in Dyce. They don\'t do a fast idle test I\'m guessing because they can\'t find the plug leads! Mine\'s a 96 and gets through every time. Had mine 6 years

yep if its an import  pre 95 it has to have the non cat test

confirmed asked the MOT guy yesterday you should have had the non cat test mate, get it retested.

thanks a lot for the info guys but I got date wrong. its M reg making it? a 94-95? does that still count as a non CAT test? please say it does!!

Think I\'m going to take the pervious MOT papers and this ones  over and have a word with him see if he will change it too a non cat test for me. Will use my female charms to help him change his mind. . It can\'t hurt anyway if not I will just take it too another place and see what they say.

read that post from 04 and its says

Non EU Imports

1st Aug 92 to 31st July 1995 inclusive

Non CAT test as follows:

CO <= 3.5%
HC <= 1200ppm

is M REG before july 31st?
