Cheddar Gorge Meet and Convoys

Mazz on the Miss Banzai forum has decided to join up with Club VR4 to organise a trip and a meet to Cheddar Gorge, in the Mendip Hills/Plateau in Somerset.
The trip is planned for the 4th July, it gives people the chance to recover from japshow spend out and also being july its bound to be nice hot weather, all the more fun for the drive.
 
So far we have only managed to arrange a convoy from Essex if anyone wants to come form other locations then post a thread up in the Convoys section.

RULES

Sorry to get all serious, but if there\'s some basic rules in place from the start, it should hopefully ensure that there are no issues with law enforcement etc and everyone enjoys themselves


1. The convoy on the motorways will be moving at 60mph (or lower if 60 is deemed too fast for the conditions) - this speed is controlled by the leading car at the time.

2. If you wish to overtake and reach the front of the queue - you become the leading car and are responsible for ensuring that the convoy continues at a sensible speed.
(reasion being is we dont want people left behind, cos that would just suck!)

3. You are responsible for ensuring you can still see the car directly behind you - this ensures no one gets lost at traffic lights/junctions!

4. Enjoy yourself!

 
The record so far was made by Pistonheads with 70 cars, lets see if we can beat that!!! Miss Banzai have at least 15 so far, not sure about VR4 though.
 
Main meeting point, Gordano services, junction 19 on the m5.
Times to be arranged. Looks around getting to the main meeting point at about 10am so far, so early start.
 
Should be really fun day guys and gals, got a car with 150 decibel train horns joining us, I think we can expect a few rockfalls!!!

so is it ok for any cars to come along? i run somerset japanese car club and we have had quite a few meets in the gorge before, im sure quite a few of the guys would love to come along :Thumbsup!

For a main meeting point for those travelling from the east, meet at Leigh Delamere, between junction 17 and 18 on the m4, then move on down to gordano services, junction 19 on the M5 to meet with the rest.
If we want to make the best of the day meet one the M4 at 9am and get to the m5 meeting point for no later then 10.30am, then leave there no later then 11am. Get down to Cheddar, have lunch then go for the piccys, drive and more piccys!!
