interesting topic :)
just wondering with all this bhp talk.. 500bhp rx7 will beat any other 500/600bhp 4wd cars.. but what if it was against a 600bhp supra (or any other rwd)?
surely it would be similar pace given they weigh similar?
or am i missing sth about rotaries??
cheers :)
2 doritos on a stick woohoo :rollin

D7REU

I think it depends on what your comparing.

A 500bhp RX7 won\'t nessecarrily beat a 500bhp 4WD car.

The RA I have weighs in at around 1220kg, and is pretty short geared even with a PPG gearset, so against it, it would be pretty close, as the gearing would play a part from a roll.

The Supra\'s are pretty heavy compared to the RX\'s so would need more power, although at top end weight would count for less, and it would depend more on Aero/turbo, setup and overall power. The rotary engine also has less drivetrain losses in comparison to Piston engines, so can put more down to the wheels at a similar flywheel power figure.

We also have a T72 powered Supra, so when the RX is out we will be able to carry out some independant testing, however I reckon it will be pretty close at 3 figure speeds, anything less and the Rotary should win due to P/W ratio.

QuoteThe current record on the rollers is 790bhp from a GTR, hopefully you can come close with one of your beast\'s I\'m sure.
hmmmm should be an interesting day.... let\'s see what happens :D

It\'s all about power to weight ratio.... a 500hp RX7 would give a 600hp Supra a good race... also a couple of things to note about Rotaries, as said there is less drivetrain loss compared to piston engines and drivetrains, once a rotary engine gains momentem it just keeps going, they redline at 9K

cheers guys.. this is starting to make me think 400bhp is not that much in a fc lol
and i not even got the car back nor driven it haha

lol @ L18M, 400bhp in a 1200kg car is fduking quick.

Seriously most people reading this have not been in a car with a genuine 400bhp with 1200kg kerb weight.

When you get to 470 fly then you are seriously pant wetting territory and you are making every effort to keep the car on the road and not smashing into anyone.

On the road Im running low boost approx genuine 500 fly, and you serioulsy have to concentrate on other road users in front of you.

People have these figures in there mind of what they want power, oh 500 this 600 that.

They get in my car, I scare the sh&t out of them and they saw was that the full 555?,thats too much power for the road.

I say no that was only 10 psi approx 470 off the wastegate.

Then they say I think 400bhp will be enough for themselves.

Get yourself a ride in a genuine 400hp RX and if you dont get out of the car shaking then the car doesnt have 400bhp lol

Na I dont want to go in Kash\'s car at the moment as it will feel slow comparing to mine :D
When he gets the new turbo fitted and a decent diff and brakes then I might.

Would agree with the above as well.

When your in a car that powerful you really need to have your wits about you. The 1st thing you notice is how much braking points change on the road.
Can\'t beat the adrenaline rush though :Giggle

Kash you need them brakes asap bro...

Also while on the topic of Diff\'s. Has anyone had any experience of the Tomei TRX 2 way diff or the Cusco RS?

Dont go 2 way for the road, only for drifting, getting lock on decell is not nice on the motorway!
Know a few people who swapped out the 2 ways in the end to 1.5 way due to them not being very driveable on the road.

Cusco diffs are good
