would changing to a larger size wheel really upset the handling???
ok there would be a small weight increase goning from a 17" to a 19" wheel but the actual rolling radius is still going to be the same (within 1-10%) and the trye width will still be pretty much the same too  the only real difference is a small increase in the loss of flex in the tyre wall due to it being smaller but then it wouldnt be that much as there both going to have the same air pressure inside them the only differenve being a slightly bigger surface area of contact on the rear tyre on the ground????????:3Confused
so is there any actual proof that this does have a negative impact on handling as i do think a larger wheel does look better as it fills the arch a bit more

Bloody mondeo\'s!

I went round last weekend with 18" Mondeo wheels too, was still up the arse of a Skyline and a motorbike too. :2Confused

Surely if you have a light 18" wheel and a heavy 17", you\'re better off with the 18"??

Anything bigger than 18\'s is for show only as it cannot be benificial for performance in any way, If your interested in getting the best performance out of your car its 17-18\'s. On the turn of the coin if you want everyone to be amazed at your beautiful japanese sportscar (which iam not knocking this point of view as i have friends that are into the show scene, just not my bag) then get 19 or bigger squeezed under there and some do look amazing like this. Some people like a bit in the middle, show looks and good performance but IMO this is in the 18\'s bracket

Its just different opinions and ideas.

17\'s with a good coilover suspension kit for me and i would never change it.

....,didn\'t mean to start all this,:eek.
But i will say this, what neil said imo is pretty much bang on the money.I think some of the cars in this club look awesome on 17/18\'s because the hole car is styled that way,i.e. race/track car.
All i want for my car is the looks for the street,so i\'ll prob end up on 19/20\'s,solely for the wow factor. Thats really all this thread was started for,:).
