Very little clutch movement

Im after some advice on fault finding a bit of an issue I\'ve got.  I was driving my FD along, pushed the clutch pedal in and I felt a felt a \'clunk\' in the pedal, as it got to the end of its range of motion.  When trying to select a gear, it felt a little more notchy.

The gearbox and clutch were replaced about 10k miles ago (early last march) at WGT - I chose an Exedy clutch as a replacement.  I\'ve recently had to replace the rubber pipe between the clutch master cylinder, and the clutch release cylinder - as it went pop.  I replaced with a braided hose, just to be sure.

Now I limped the car home, and just in case it was an air bubble (I did kind of think there was more travel since I replaced the braided hose), I bled the system again, but no bubbles. My initial thought is that it could be either the clutch master cylinder, or the clutch release cylinder, and as they\'re only going to cost a total of £150 for the pair, then I thought I might as well replace both.

However, before I do - I was wondering if you guys might come to the same conclusion?

Sounds like the clutch arm has failed inside the gearbox,

Thanks for the reply Clive - its something I\'d not have considered.  Do you know if there\'s any way to check this without taking the \'box off? - an inspection plate for example?

adib

hi swanny yes there is an inspection plate on the bottom off the gear box you can see it all from that once your taken it off

Thanks adib - I\'ve taken a look, and it looks like Clive is correct, there is a small crack at the base of one of the arms, fortunately the one facing the inspection hole.  I\'ve tried to get a photo, and I\'ll post it up in a few minutes.

Pictures as promised.  These were quite hard to capture, and dont really show the depth of the crack, the shadow from the raised area where the prongs branch from, just above the crack doesn\'t help:

...you can see in this last one, a particularly \'clean\' section, which is like a chip in the crack.
