Well, tried to start the car this morning and it just wont go, battery is fine, you turn the key and it sounds like its going to start but it just keeps on trying and trying no initial woomf, lol

It got moved back a couple of feet on saturday by my bro in law whilst I was away, he turned the car off straight away instead of letting it run for a bit, could it be flooded?  If so, how do I sort it?

Thanks folks

remove egi fuse in engine bay, crank with it removed for 5-10 secs, put back in, dont pump acc pedal, and turn over. Thats how i deflood. If that doesnt work and its badly flooded take spark plugs out and clean up leave in oven to burn off all fuel for about 15mins and put back in. If that doesnt work then its obv something else

NeilSR

Cool thankyou, stupid question but which one is the egi fuse

Its a 1990 turbo II

Brett

Probably flooded.  The EGI fuse is on the long thin box near the passenger side suspension strut.  40A IIRC :)

If that fails you can cheat with the aid of some easy start ;)  (When did the car last have new plugs BTW?)

Not had new plugs whilst Ive owned it (18 months ish) and this is the first time this has happened

Brett

I\'d inspect the plugs as well, could well be that they are on the way out too.

Ok cheers folks

Any recommendations for new plugs?

Brett

Assuming you are not running lots more power then stock plugs should be fine :)
(BRQ9EP iirc)

If you try the deflood procedure - press the accelerator cable to the floor.  It won\'t inject any fuel whilst cranking - particularly with the EGI fuse out anyway, but it will open the throttle bodies up fully, allowing the engine to bring in plenty of air to flush out your petrol.

Ideally remove the bottom two plugs for a good and quick deflood - and crank for a good 30 seconds or so - you should see clouds of white vapour from the engine bay - don\'t smoke !!  :flamed

The plugs will probably be wet and fouled - they will need a good clean - a squirt of carb cleaner and a gentle brushing (don\'t use brass wire brush) should clean them up nicely.
