Hi

I finally now have enough money to have a rebuild on my 3rd gen rx7!
But i dont know who i should get to do the rebuild, there are a few places out there that seem ok but its hard to chose out of them.

I might have my engine ported depending on the price and maybe a few other things to improve it.

Who are the best companys out there? and Is there anyone to avoid?

Please help!

chrisJDM

the thing is everyone on here will have a different opinion of who are the best, where are you from??

G@NDY

No one to avoid, and every rotary owner has there favourites. For me it would boil down to which one is nearest. So where are you located and we could advise accordingly.

regards Andy.

I live i east anglia. Not far from jimmys rx7 but i bought the car from him and it was running fine and he done a good job but my apex seals broke but that wasnt his fault that was down to a crap tunner.

So i want someone different this time just for a change and dont mind travelling. I was thinking of haywardrotary as they give a 2 years warranty?

chrisJDM

yes ive heard good things about hayward rotary although never personally used them myself.  I take my car to RX Motors although they are always very busy so have quite a slow turn around time

I have used Jimmies myself and the engine was well built and still going strong today although I know longer have the FD. I used Carl Hayward for my Orange FC build and so far so good but still running in. I had an excellent deal from him and that included porting, I live in Kings Lynn area and the journey for me was worth it,half the cost of my local builder !!, its not always the case of you get what you pay for all the time. I gave him the block,he stripped it there and then and we went through what went wrong inside so I knew exactly what to expect with the bill. Very few builders will ever stick to the quote as most do not know what to expect until its stripped down, by then you are in a point of no return.

Iv heard alot of good things about them but thats alomost an extra 100 miles and to get my car transported to hayward will be £230 so that would be getting to expensive.

yea i know the journey is long, but you pay for what you get maybe you should ask them both for a quote on repair n see what works out better for you, you could save alot or lose alot? best thing is to fone around
