The RX7 will cost less then the EVO to get it going really quick.

This has been discussed loads of times before on here so i\'ll go through the basics again.

Buy the evo if you....

Want a car thats easy to live with.
Easy to get in & out of
Easy to drive fast in the wet and dry
Something the missis would like to drive.

Buy the FD if you...

like the smell of petrol
You don\'t mind dislocating your hip to get out the car in a busy car park
Can live with hard suspension
Don\'t want Your missis to drive it

They are completely different cars. Only thing they have in common is they are both fast and handle well. Evo feels like your sitting on the car instead of in it, FD feels like your ass is 2" off the ground.

Evo makes a fantastic multi purpose car. The FD makes a fantastic track car. IT depends on what your looking for.

Practicality = Evo
Fun = FD

There is a big thread on the ameican site here

The FD is that low :Giggle If you have stock suspension you can open the door and touch the floor without much hassle !

the other way around:Giggle:Giggle:Giggle:Giggle:Giggle:Giggle

But they are all pussies in their 4WDs and too scared to drive a high powered RWD car...
However i am sure everyone here would be comfortable in a 4WD high powered Evo... but they will never admit it and make excuses lol

this flies in the face of what most people will say is \'common\' sense, but i\'d be willing to bet that a well looked after FD will make more reliable power than a similarly treated Evo.

i\'ve not really got any experience with Evos, but boosting a little 2.0 litre four-pot engine that much rarely seems like a good idea.

ive got a friend (evoray on here - name says it all) who was always into evos. his dream car was an evo 6 tommi mak. he ordered one from japan but wanted something to fill the gap so he bought a lightly tuned rx7. the evo has arrived. the evo is for sale...
fduk.

Just how heavy is an evo ?? The FD only weighs 1250kg with full trim. You could get that down a long way without an interior and buckets because the back seats arn\'t a huge amount of use.

I\'ve never been in an EVO so can\'t really say what its like as a driver but the FD is huge fun. Just look at the number of people who have single turbo Fd\'s and go off and buy something else only to be drawn back in when they can\'t get the same buzz.

How hard is it to get good power out of an evo ? How highly strung are they before they get tuned ?

wiki weight says 1,250–1,360 kg so similar to the FD on the bottom end.

Better off just trying to have a ride in both and making your mind up really !

Quote from: F8L_FAZ;596609:xconfused As the Heading suggests.. Ive never had either car before but without a doubt be purchasing one. I love the looks and the whole rotary idea about the rx7 the only thing thats holding me back is that the 7 is slower to 60 than the evo6 now iknow its not a big issue but i dont plan to carry out any mods for a while. Just wondering if i were to mod the 7 what would i need to do to say get 60 to around the 4 sec mark? also how much will it cost

FAZ_EVO_VI ,,i take it thats your user name on the lancer forum ?
thing with an evo is it never let\'s you down,i have had 2 evo\'s and never had any bother ever with them.

AshRX

i have had 2 FD\'s and they have net let me down lol

Just think if you want the power it will cost £££ times as much in an evo to a FD

You want 400 atw in a FD it will cost round 3k mark. In an evo i dread to think lol. I have driven a Evo 6 Tommy edition and not impressed is an understatement. It felt like a taxi

D1 WTF

I had a standardish FD until water seals failed.  I then went single turbo and when i sold it was running about 485bhp.  I did absolutely love it and it was blisteringly quick.  Be it the fact it blew up 3 times in 12 months (elec fault that didnt get found until the end)

I have since owned a mint red Tommi Mak evo 6, and then a white gsr that i bought with a dead engine and had norris designs fit a fully forged engine, ralli art ecu, running 1.5 bar etc.  I wacked a later evo 8 MR turbo on it to

They are completely different cars, it depends what you want it for.  I got a little bored of the evo as it was just too good a car.  It is rapid, handles very well, is so easy to drive, can take 5 people all day long and get over speed bumps still.  requires no exterior modification as it is what it is.  I dont think much could have kept with me on country roads, and i def couldnt have cornered in a rear wheel drive like i did in the evo, all year round.

But with all this in mind it didnt excited me everytime i drove it like the rex.
Think it goes down to what you are using it for, 2nd car, only car etc
where you live etc

Saying all this as i regularly drive back roads and have a kid on the way, i would love another evo as it is such a practical car.

Although neither of these cars are as fun as my R32 drift car with 2 way diff etc, that is most def the most fun car i have ever driven.
IF YOU DIDN\'T CARE YOU WOULDN\'T BE LOOKING

Rzla

Lol a lot of people have had reliable FDs... maybe this is because they looked after it?
If you are not going to look after an FD then there is no point getting it mate... but I tell you that there is no comparison... i have been in Evos and they feel nothing like a Rex which is why i bought one.

When I was looking for mine, one guy was trying to flog me an Evo, going on about how you can "brake mid corner" etc... And that\'s exactly what is wrong with these cars. Anyone can get in and drive it quickly.

If you drive an RX7 well, and quickly, it\'s because YOU are doing it. Far more satisfying.

And if you get a standard twin turbo, the extra kick at 4500rpm is like cocaine.

oh wat\'s cocaine like ? is it good lol i have never tryed it  lol

people can go on and on wats the best car but as other\'s have said both car\'s are so differant,i have had high powerd rwd car\'s and 4wd and to be honest i like them both, but the 4wd has the edge and the evo is one of the best point to point car\'s ever made.
