:xconfused  As the Heading suggests.. Ive never had either car before but without a doubt be purchasing one. I love the looks and the whole rotary idea about the rx7 the only thing thats holding me back is that the 7 is slower to 60 than the evo6 now iknow its not a big issue but i dont plan to carry out any mods for a while. Just wondering if i were to mod the 7 what would i need to do to say get 60 to around the 4 sec mark? also how much will it cost

reeph

My understanding is that the 0-60 time is more about gearing than it is about hp. I believe that if you kept the standard FD gearbox you\'d have to spend thousands to get close to dropping 1 second off that time.

I think if 0-60 is very important to you, you\'d be better off with an Evo.

how many times do you actually race from a standstill? straightline speed rx7 is faster than an evo, remember an evo or scooby doo loses about 80bhp through the 4 wheel drive.

you will also get more attention and respect with an rx7:Giggle

much rarer and better looking to:mmmm

Rob i definitely agree the rx7 is more rare looks MUCH better and your right even in an evo i wouldnt launch it unless i have a few clutches to spare in the boot, but i always thought the evos had more torque? obviously assuming both are completely stock

reeph

FD3S \'99-\'02 Power was 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp), with 313.8 N·m (231 ft·lbf) of torque as per the maximum Japanese limit (source: Wikipedia)

Evo 6 Torque was increased to 275 ft·lbf (373 N·m) at 3000 rpm. Power officially stayed the same, at 280 PS (276 hp/206 kW) as agreed by Japan\'s automotive gentlemen\'s agreement that all cars would have 276 or less hp... (source: Wikipedia)

So yeah the Rx7\'s torque is much much lower than the Evo 6.

Rx7 would whoop an evo 6 torque doesn\'t win races BHP wins races...

Nik da Greek

torque is for tractors and American stuff that doesn\'t go round corners and still think pushrods are the pinnacle of automotive engine design excellence. :D

If you\'re worried about 0-60 times, buy an already modified RX-7 with some decent porting and a fast-spooling single.......prices are low enough right now. You\'ll beat the Evo and drive an object of beauty, not something that looks like it hit every branch of the ugly tree as it fell out.

Mudflaps, I ask ya...they\'re for trucks, too, not performance cars :rollin

easy 7!!!!!  evo 6s are common as muck, and ive yet to meet one that will stand against mine.....rx7s are rare and probably always will be because not many people have the balls to buy one ....Rotary power all the way!!!

i love these replies there really making me think about things ive got the same post up on the evo owners club it looks like at some point if you have had a rex or an evo you have always considered about getting the other car before commiting to one

MINTER

youll always get the biast vote on either forum..get a drive in a decent Rx7 and Evo 6 and then youll know better

lee mills

used to have an evo and to be honest there is no comparison. doesnt take long for the evo to become boring. there too predictable:Giggle

Hot_RX
