Can anyone tell me what the biggest size brake discs can be installed whilst keeping the standard calipers on an FD.

Also any recommendations on makes of aftermarket brake discs?? Grooved?? Drilled??

standard callipers = standard discs only, but can get drilled/grooved/combo variants
rs/rz callipers = slightly larger & wider discs (32mm dia iirc)

there are a few kits to widen the standard callipers to accomodate the rs/rz discs, but
larger than that you need eg. brembo/kad/various other 6 pot callipers & discs, much more money, 1k upwards new

rz brakes are also a larger diameter, but the caliper is also different the leading and trailing pistons are different sizes.

The 314mm disks & callipers won\'t fit under 16" wheels.

I have heard that for cars with the 314mm disks, the callipers on one end of the car are the same as the 294mm ones.

Can anyone clarify the big disks/ big callipers/ smaller disks/smaller callipers/ front / rear/ issue

 Thanks.

Uprated brakes are 314x32mm front and 314/315mmx22mm rear. You use the stock rear calipers with a bracket to place the caliper further out from the hub. Front calipers are without bracket but sit further out as well.

as has been said, the front rz/rs larger discs are 314mm diameter and 32mm wide, it wont work with the normal caliper, thats why you need rz callipers to do this. there was a company in the states selling conversion kits, you have to crack the standard caliper and put a spacer in the middle of it, as well as a special bracket to mount it farther out, and it wont work with 16 inch wheels, dont forget you\'ll also need a 17 inch rs/rz spacesaver spare wheel too. I\'m not sure the us company still does the conversion kits, i cant remember who it was. cheapest option for bigger brakes is to try and get some rz callipers and discs, and rebuild/refurb them with a seal kit. You should be able to do all that for under £500.
