Hi,
I have a 1985 series 3,2 days ago i washed it & cleaned/hosed down underside of bonnet,so the engine got a little wet:2Rolleyes
Car started fine afterwards & stuck it in the garage,2 days later it won\'t start.
It won\'t even turn over, think starter motor has stuck.
Ignition on you can hear the actuator arm in the starter motor engaging but won\'t turn over engine,i\'ve been under the car & can feel it engaging with gf turning ignition key,hit it with rubber mallet but still dosent work!!
Any ideas?
Bet i\'ll have to take it off & probably renew?
Anyone else had this problem?
& no taking the .... 4 using a hose under the bonnet!!!:Giggle
Cheers stuart...

Stick the car in 2nd and try and rock it out of engagement.

Bit of a odd one !

Thx shaun,
Theres definitely power to the starter motor, can hear & feel it clicking.
Can rocking the car backwards & forwards in 2nd gear work?
I thought u did that for a sticking clutch.
Amazing how a starter motor can stick within 48hrs of it being 100% ok:xconfused

I used to have to do it with my AXGT. Was an easy way of popping the gear back into place. Could just have stuck in off the key and may be fine after !

Stu, first step is find a little push-on spade connector on the starter solenoid assembly - accessed from underneath, you have to lie down behind the nearside front wheel. That spade has a habit of corroding.
Then I suppose it\'s a check of the main battery cables and earth connection, then time to drop the starter off for a looksee.

Cheers lads,
I\'ll check connections & try rocking the car.
I just know i\'m gonna have to take it off,i\'m not the lucky sort.
Last year i had a clutch stick on a dax cobra,i freed it by flying up & down the driveway in 1st gear!
