Gents.

As some of you may know, i\'ve been getting random heat light flashes recently, mostly when shifting or cruising. I have a sneaking suspicion that it\'s not DET as Pip had a look last time I was at WGT and said levels are all good.

I don\'t have me hands on a Commander yet, but thats coming.

In the meantime, does anyone know the sequences that the Heat light flashes for. If memory serves me correctly its for knock, injector duty and pressure of some sort? The warning I get is rapid flashes - which I think does signify knock?

I think the sensor might just be playing up, but i\'d feel better for knowing!

Cheers in advance

I think you\'re right, rapid flashes are knock. I hope so anyway, because mine\'s doing it all the time, too. I know my knock sensor\'s always been iffy, and I regularly see ludicrous peak values on the Commander (182 on the way back from the Pod on Sunday, for example!) so I\'ve always assumed the heat light flashes are to do with that. Always seems to flash the most on hurried downchanges, dunno why.

I get daft knock too - I\'ve seen 120 or so - Pip pointed out that if that was really the case, I\'d be carrying apex seals home in a box.

I didn\'t think there was a sequence as such when the car was running? Maybe as part of the startup?

Thats what I was thinking SiH, Pip said almost the exact words to me as well when I phoned him a few months ago from the side of the road in a panic!!

For some reason, for me, it\'s always when shifting, or when cruising at a constant speed, or when I back off the throttle. Basically, any time when the engines making a noise. Might have a look at the sensor at some point and see if it\'s rubber ducked.

Cheers for the responses so far. Any tuners able to offer advice on this?

They\'ll only go wrong again. Like SiH said, if you were really getting knock levels in the high hundreds, you\'d be collecting your engine parts off the moon, so what the hell?

Mine has spasm attacks...
My highest knock reading has been 1... yet i have opened up the wastegate and gone up to 7.5k revs so i know the knock has not been 1
Then my heat light flashes whenever it feels like... so for that reason I know mine is faulty and can\'t see the point in getting a new one as Nik has said already...
