Right then dunno if I\'m worrying about nothing but I\'ve noticed when I\'m giving it full beans as the rev\'s get to around 6-6.5k there\'s a weird crackling from the exhaust!!! the A/F ratio is around 12.5 when it\'s happening, could this be a mapping issue or is it time for a lead and amp change due to ignition break down?

Have you serviced the car lately?
What boost are you running now? Still 0.7 of a bar?
Crackling can be detonation, but also ignition breakdown.
To be on the safe side you are welcome to bring it to me for a checkover to make sure of what is going on.

Carl

Hi Carl,

It\'s not been serviced but isn\'t due yet, plugs have done about 2k since last service, I\'ve probably done 2-2.5k since you mapped it, The boost is still on wastegate pressure generally around 0.7-0.8 but has spiked to 0.9 in the cold weather.

But I have had the turbo rebuilt since the map due to a ....e rebuild previously, the turbo was changed slightly don\'t know if it would cause this problem tho? it had a different comp housing, compressor wheel and 360 bearing, I\'d appreciate it if you could have a look mate, more than likely be next month tho.

Sounds like much more air is going into the engine now so probably needs a remap to suit. Drive it carefully until you can get down.

Sounds like you are lucky its still running i would take it easy in the car with those turbo changes it needs the map looking at!
Sorry carl beat me to it
