Yeah mzte, you can do it, the standard light setup is that when full beam is on, dipped beam goes off. I got my mate to make me a wee box that automatically switches the circuits to change it. There is a simpler way to do it but it invovles hacking wiring to bits. There is a guide on here somewhere cos i remember writing on the thread. Search \'twin headlights\' or \'quad headlights\' i think.

As for ruining the ballasts, you should ensure that the HIDs are wired up for dipped beam. That way, when u flash someone you wont ruin them. (Ballasts dont like going on and off quickly)

Quote from: bnaellis;592062Excuse the simplicity of my understanding of the hid kit wiring for knightsports twin headlamp kit. So if this has been asked already please be gentle with me.
I got the knight sports twin headlamp kit. I want to fit a hid kit as the standard light on the ks twin kit are not very bright.
I want both bulbs to be on at the same time yet still having a main beam. Is this possible and if so do I need 1 hid kit or two? again if so which hid kit is best for me to purchase to meet these requirements?
Will it burn out the ballast or anything with this configuration?
Hope the above makes sense.

Brian - that\'s how my kit is set, so it\'s defo possible...... although once you\'ve fitted HID to the dipped beam..... the main beam will almost be redundant.... and if you look at one of my pics you can see the diff side by side..... even with an uprated blue style bulb which I have..... they are still yellowy and lame I might hasten to add!

Interesting graeme - I didn\'t know they were like that as standard.... well mine certainly aren\'t?!... which is nice :)

MarkoFu

Mine certainly are, sadly. And i\'ve just purchased an HID kit so i\'ll have to find the thread which explains how to convert the main beam to quad lights. Will post a link if i can find it... :)

Thanks guy\'s. Does anyone know if i\'s only pivot that makes the headlamp controller so you can have the sleepy eye style or are there any others?

Knightsports do a HID kit themselves for the quad lights. Has anyone got one of those and what is the set up?

Hi Brian

How you doing?

Love the Knightsports look but there\'s a few wrinkles to iron out first.

Please let us know how you get on with your set.

They do...but theyre a fortune....3-400 pounds as far as I know!

Quote from: SiH;591805What bulbs are they? I\'ve got some a superfluous brand new H4 HID kit I\'d sell for £70 ;) From a UK supplier :)

Is will this work with the KS Headlamps....I think they have an H3 bulb!?

Okay, so to update from earlier, this seems to be the most straight forward sounding how-to relating to the headlight conversion:

I\'m hoping this will make the dipped beams stay on when you turn the high beams on!
-if, for any reason, someone knows how/why this won\'t work then please say now as i\'m going to give this a bash at the weekend!!

If not, i\'ll let you know the results...

Top find, not quite all of it makes sense without a diagram, but I shall give it a go at the weekend too.

Don\'t quite agree with this statement. I have a KS four beam light kit and the wiring  is a sports wiring kit by IPF. It has three relays in a little box.

I wired it up this afternoon temporarilly and just two lamps come on with dipped beam and all four come on with main beam. All the bulbs are L3 55w.

So say you flash the main beam when the lights are off, do the dipped beams flash also??

Yes all four lights flash together when you use the flash stalk on the steering col when the headlights are off.

Out of interest, how do peeps get on with HID lights if you cannot use them to flash with. Does it help the ballasts to last longer if you keep the lights on longer when you flash?

LMAO,

Thats\' exactly how mine operate, complete with 3 relays in a little box!! I just made a ....-poor attempt at explaining it!! :Giggle

I would think so, they don\'t like quick on and offs, so I always keep them on for a full second or so. I never flash someone a few times in succession
