Engine loom cleaned and in the process of being re-covered.  Checking for any brakes of fraying wires also :

This is what the right rear passanger side looked like before.  The rest of the underneath was about the same.  Some aftershots of various sections after :

Took the rear bumper off to see what lurked underneath :

Gave it a clean up :

Took the rear clusters and numberplate out :

Masked up the lights, all bolt holes and gave it a clean (now its all ready to take the rust out (quite surprised again as there really is not much :)) :

Right onto the overhaul of suspension related.

I have several items which I am going to get blasted and powdercoated (not totally decided on colour but thinking of a cherry red :))  These are all the items (so far) that I want done :

Which are (and if anyone can fill in the blanks cause im thick that would be great! - 3,4,5,13)

1. Front anti-roll bar
2. Rear anti-roll bar
3. ??? (Cant think of the proper name - rear suspension arms from subframe)
4. ??? (Cant think of the proper name - rear suspension arms from subframe)
5. Rear subframe droplink (is that what it\'s caled?)
6. Rear subframe
7. Right suspension arm
8. Left suspension arm
9. Right rear tow hook
10. Left rear tow hook
11. Left front tow hook
12. Right front tow hook
13. ???
14. Gear box brace
15. Front subframe
16. 2 Sets of shocks and springs (2 not in shot ;))

Problem is that I need to remove all the bushes.  I do want to replace them (hense why I want to know the names properly of the components)  Im going to contact superflex/powerfles or whatever to find out which ones they can do.  I also have the DTSS rear steer eliminators - where do these bushes actually go?

Im also going to choose the best shocks and springs from what I have.  I have seen on other threads people have taken them apart to have bits shotblasted and powdercoated.  I can get spring compressors no problem but I have never taken them apart - is there a website or writeup that would be helpfull?

Anyway thats it for 5 months.  Best I keep it up to date more often cause there is a fair bit there! :Giggle

are you installing the DTSS eliminators because you plan on drifting the car?

If you are going to drift it now is the time to add more lock

Do you need the other frame that fits behind the engine subframe? cabs have them I think as standard and just simply bolt on, just so happens i have a spare one if you need one to get coated. I can send you a pic if you unsure, they give a lot more rigidity to the car and simply act as a underbody strut.

Quote from: dthebuk;590495then why the DTSS eliminators? :Hammer

To eliminate the rear steer.  I read on here that if you are cornering fast then the rear steer becomes more a problem than it is a benefit.  Is this not the case then?

dthebuk

oh i don\'t know? I was just under the impression its good. I remember reading about it being a problem if its shot, first ive heard about it being bad tho.

probs just me being stupid :D

lol you had me worried I brought them for no reason!

Im sure what I read was that for normal driving stock is fine (unless they are shot as you say)  If you are cornering at 90+ or around there then they start to make the car unstable, and more unstable the faster that speed you go.

While I dont plan to do 100mph round corners on the local togue :Giggle I want to change the bush as its old anyway.  Plus if I do take it on track then I have a piece of mind for the higher speeds.

Of course, I shouldnt believe everything I read :Hammer

dthebuk

haha sorry about that.

sounds well justified so you probably are right (y)

Powerflex do nothing for the FC, Superflex do.  Here is what im looking at (gotta work out what it covers now and what I will be missing :) :

Hmmm all the quality has gone! Grrrr

Ricco_04

Thought I might do a little update to this rather short running project!!

Stock open diff replaced with Torsen from an FD

Diff all painted up

I will be moving the car to a new garage im having built soon (cause I have also moved house) so had to pop some new tyres on the rims ready for the move.
