Hi guy\'s,here\'s a poser for ya.Does anyone out there know where the fuel pump relay is,I kept losing power to the fuel pump and eventually had to run another live feed .The american boys offer a good way round a dodgy relay but i need to find the little bugger to try it.Also any idea if theres a relay on the tank sender circuit.I\'ve tried a sender that i know is good but still cant get a tank reading,a heads up would sure be appreciated, cheers Colin.

Fuel Pump. My manual shows the pump fed directly from the fuse box, (no relay), via connector ref X-03 which is the big connector between front and rear harness, under the dash. Unlikely to be this connector, and assuming the pump\'s OK, I would check the fuel pump connector first under the back seat squab, then the 20 amp fuseway itself. Also the pump earth/return connection, which my diagram says is in the tail light area!!! That last bit looks promising.
You have to be cautious with the Haynes diagrams because they mix up US/USA diagrams and also different models.

Tank Readout, Diagrams say no relay. Straight connection, sender - guage - instrument electrical supply.
Earthing point for the guage is X-16, which is ALSO the earthing for the fuel pump!!!, in the centre area of the tail lights.

run a new feed with a relay the old wiring is not great and you may want to upgrade the pump at a later date so it will save time then :chat

Hi Mark,i\'ve already run a new feed straight from the fuse box, that cured the pump problem, but for some reason it killed the choke magnet. The old girl starts ok without it after a few pumps and she\'s fine when warm.I like the idea of upgrading the pump, have you got any recomendations

facet red top is the obvious choice depends on where you want to go with the car, if you want to run a weber or modify the nikki you may also need to run a regulator with the nikki certianly with a weber

I\'ll be dropping the elford in as soon as we get some decent weather so she\'ll be running an SU.You mention modifying the nikki,at the moment mine has been stripped of all the whistles and bells, and i was wondering what else you can do with them.
