guys,
as the title states, i only fixed the car a week ago and now its playing up again!
it started happening intermittently about two days ago and now it happens every time.
when i drive along the power delivery is smooth until i get to about 4.5-5.5k and i get a real kick from the engine and it feels quite enexpected and explosive, other times, when i get to the same sort of rev range the noise of ther engine changes slightly and the revs rise slower and the car feels flat, like there is no power there. it used to give a kick most times but now i just get the flat power everytime.
the car is a standard uk twin turbo fd rx-7 with apexi intake and aftermarket exhaust.
i know the twin turbo rx-7\'s are meant to be smooth, but should i get a real noticeable kick? also, i wouldnt expect it to feel really flat as the revs go past 5k.
i do not have a boost guage so i cannot monitor boost levels as of yet. if i was to get one, do i connect the vacuum hose from the guage to the blanked off nipple on the drivers side of the plenum?
any feedback would be greatfully recieved, james

I had a problem like this. Does it feel like theres no second turbo kicking in ? If it does for me it turned out to be a tiny tiny little clip somewhere on what i think is called the acthuator. This was replaced and it was fine.

yes indeed!! it sounds good but it feels awful!
im just in the process of replacing all of the vac hoses soon so if i have a split hose or a clip off then hopefully i will find it. had your hose fallen off? do you know where the actuator is located and if anything has to be taken off to get to it to check it?
thanks for the info

gear1275

oh and do you know which actuator it was?

Sorry mate i dont as i gave it to David at Rotecnics to sort out.

I had a similar problem to this... with me it turned out to be the pre spool solonoid on the UIM. there are 2 bolter to the Upper intake manifold, one controles the second turbo & the other controles the boost pressure...... replaced both on mine & everything worked perfectly!!

good good, where did you buy them from? the car seems alright again intermittently today!! i think i will take it all apart and replace the vacuum hoses and then see if that helps. i thouight it might have been a solenoid issue. also, not really on topic i know, but, when i start the car from cold, i get whitey bluey smoke from the exhaust. it seems to sort itself out when the car warms up but every now and again i get it when i pull away from standstill?? any thoughts. cheers
