found out i have the week off work so i figure im going to try fitting my exhaust and downpipe and port the turbos wastegate.

I should manage that ok but the only thing is i dont have any new exhaust gaskets! Where could i get some fast? Or failing that can i use that holts firegum stuff? Or some high temp silicone liquid gasket s*it?

Thanks guys!

Brett

Get to your local motor factor - they should have a large selection of generic gaskets :wave

If you use a fire gum use Walkers exhaust paste form the people who make the exhaust systems, as this has much higher temperature capability over the others,

If you ask me nicely I\'ll send you some exhaust gasket material. It usually comes in sheets of approximately 600x300x1mm, these cost me £15 though I can\'t remember the name of the factory off hand, its only 5 or 6 miles from me. They actually make exhaust and cylinder head gaskets for the motor industry. I have about half a sheet in the garage that I could let you have. Send me your address and I\'ll post it to you. If anyone wants one of these sheets let me know, they are a bloody sight cheaper than Mazda gaskets (£70 I\'ve been quoted). You can cut them out with some tin snips or a really good pair of scissors though I suggest getting some wad punchs to do a neat job on the holes,Bob.

Got your address, I\'ll put this half sheet in the post tomorrow, hopefully you\'ll have it tuesday.500x250 should be plenty, get a couple of 1mm cutting discs if you have a 41/2" grinder, its easier and neater to cut the outsides like this,Bob.

Thanks so much Bob. I have a dremell cutting tool, that ought to be ok shouldn\'t it?

Should be fine, hope you\'ve got summat a bit more robust to do the wastegate though or you\'ll be at it forever!

Forgot to say that the gasket material will be on its way this morning.

Bob Monkhouse

Its iin the post. It will be with you by 1pm tomorrow. It was £8.25 for the postage and theres about 2/3 of a sheet, call it £18.00.Stick it in an envelope(used notes only, no consecutive numbers)and send it me at 34,Teddington Avenue, Dalton ,Huddersfield, HD5 9HS. No rush and I hope its OK for you, Bob.

Jimi_Hendrix

Will be fine man thanks!

BTW do you need to use exhaust paste when joining it up? Or are the gaskets on there own ok?

Ta!

Bob Monkhouse

You shouldn\'t need jointing paste, the gasket material crushes down well as you\'ll see tomorrow. You will have enough to do all the gaskets on the car about three times! Oh, and be careful when you\'re cutting the stuff cos it int \'alf sharp! I wiped most of the blood off when I slashed myself trimming it up yesterday!!!
