What\'s the best thing to use??

Can you use hylomar??

Cheers

davehg

use the same mazda sealant that you used to build the block with, its one of the best things out for this. definately do not use hylomar
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

Don\'t know if I\'m being a retard here or not. No sealant was used apart from some hylomar on the legs of the housings as per diy-re DVD.

Also no sealant mentioned on the build on build up of the block on that DVD and it is a step by step guide. Also not in the mazda manual I have.

davehg

i belice the paper copy mazda manuals say to use mazda sealant around the oil o ring around the dowels and on the legs of the housings. hylomar and oil dont mix well

Normal oil resistant silicone sealant will do. I used permatex ultra black silicone sealant http://www.accessconnect.com/gasket_maker.htm along with a new gasket. You can get this from any motor factors. Just make sure you put plenty around the engine mount areas as this is the most common place to leak.

I got some stuff from my local A1 motorstore... The sump\'s all on, hopefull, there won\'t be any leaks!!

Saying that, not a massive job if there is!
