sprung is supposed to be more friendly to your trans and take the shock out of it i think... and pretty much all clutches i have seen have been sprung??

karl_tate

yeh i have been told that as well but also been told that it wont damage the trans

i think most standard clutches will be sprung.

Sprung clutches are far easier to live with, less of the "on-off" release, and a bit more slip is what I\'ve heard.

karl_tate

cheers for that, im not too fussed about on or off i just dont want it to damage anything that i could of stopped by getting a sprung clutch.

I\'ve got un sprung and it can be harsh with quick gear changes

karl_tate

harsh in what way darren, have you got anything supporting the diff/gearbox as in braces or solid mounts??

Hi Karl,

As stated above sprung will initially take up the torque (twist) and therefor will take the shock out of the drive train partially
All the best Clive

hairyhoover

You get a  loud bang. You can avoid it by taking your time. I\'ve got solid engine mounts

karl_tate

cheers guys,

think i will go with the sprung clutch although a chattery clutch sounds cool :p

Good choice! Not sure I would get a soild centre ever again

If you value your transmission get a sprung one. Unsprung clutches are massively harsh on the box , diff, driveshafts, etc.
