DR SCHNITZEL

Just fitted my turbo and started it up for the first time but it tries to redline straight away. looked on the pfc and. my fuel pump is giving out 4 volts, the o2 sensor 0.01 and with the car off im boosting at .37 apparently. any ideas?

1) why does my pfc think that im boosting at .37 bar when the car isnt even started?

2) Also what should the o2 sensor reading display? mines reading .01 or .00.

3)What volts should the fuel pump be kicking out on the pfc mine is about 4 volts

Cheers all

Dodgy map sensor??? We did a similar mod not too long ago and ours ran like a dog (hunted and wouldn\'t idle properly) but after a trip to pip\'s it runs great.

DR SCHNITZEL

well my wire on my  o2 sensor is just taped on and its not earthed properly so ill try that tomorrow and see how it runs. just wanted it started to get th coolant and oil cirulated.and blow anything out the compresor housing etc. ill try to iron out the problems tomorrow.

DR SCHNITZEL

any other ideas? on this problem. i take it a bad o2 sensor would try top make the car redline ie if its not plugged properly.

Dr-Rotor

Fuel pump voltage is to low...stock is 6-8v I think. Mine runs 12-13v.

Check to see your TPS sensor is reading the right volts and also check to see its pluged in properly. Check your map sensor is pluged in properly too. You could have a damaged map sensor. Are you using a stock sensor or a 3bar ?

DR SCHNITZEL

its a stock sensor. does this make a difference? it all worked great before the conversion

Dr-Rotor

No it only makes a difference if you change it to a 3bar. Stock sensor is 2bar. For a 3bar you have to re-calculate the pim scale. I have a pim scale for a GM 3bar sensor if anyone needed it.

I think you might have just pumped something when you installed the single tubs. Just check all sensor things are pluged in. Go onto you rev setup on the hand controller and check your revs are all sweet. Do you have a map for a single turbo?

If you have stock fuel and everything I can give you a nice safe 180kw map for a single turbo on stock fuel system. You need a datalogit program to install it though. Have you got that stuff?

So you say the car just revs up when you turn it on....this sounds like a TPS..(Throttle position sensor) problem and a map sensor problem. The 2 are not corrosponding properly thats why you are getting boost on ignition. Also just check you havent accedentaly re-installed the throttle cable too tightly causing it to rev up.

Ill try my best to help you out.

DR SCHNITZEL

I think i know what it is i went and messed with the tps screw thing, then forgot where i wound it from so ive undone it all the way now. so it doesnt even touch it. i also set my rev limit to 1400 so it doesnt go mad high. now when i start it it goes to 1500 bangs 800 - 1500 bang 800 - 1500 bang 800 - 1500 bang hee hee. when i put the rev limit back up it shouldnt do this anymore?? Ho far shoudl this tps screw be screwed in?

also idle sensor thing next to the dubble throttle was making a buzzing noise so ive repalced it and its ok.

while im starting it im holding the impeller wheel with a socket trying to get the oil through. how long should i wait. i really dont want to undo anything to see if the oils through. its been on about 40 seconds already is that enough?

i have a walbro fuel pump to fit but i want to address this voltage issue first before i fit it.

If you could send me a map that would be great im sure i can track someone down with datalogit until i buy one myself. but i need to sort my wideband out first.

its a hks to4r, .70 witha .84 hotside i thinks 1600 kg parts rail too.

the revs issue shoudl be sorted now just this boost issue and a map needed and a muffler for my screamer pipe

DR SCHNITZEL

Cheers fellow doctor, great diagnosis.

Also is my o2 reading too low? its 0.01 or 0.0? Cheers many thanks. We will get there.

Dr-Rotor

Is that an o2 reading from a wide band sensor? Or stock?
What is it reading? Volts or AFR ?

That screw you adjusted is an idle screw that opens the throttle body a little. The TPS sensor is a black thing with a plug in it that sits at the back of the throttle body.

Just wind the screw in a little and then nip up the nut to stop it undoing. If its wound right out you will need a little throttle pedal to start the car, but if the screw is wound in a little it opens the throttle a little for starting and stops it from cuting out when you back off the gas slowing down for the lights. If you are talking about the long screw at the back of the throttle body infront of the TPS sensor, that one needs to be wound right out if you have removed the water heating for the throttle body from cold starts. It has a spring on it.

Idle adjustment screw is under the intake elbow.

DR SCHNITZEL

Aha.

The o2 reading is on the pfc at the bottom of the sensor screen its a voltage reading like the poor one my pump is giving out. 0.1 volts on the o2 and 4 point something on the fuel pump. which i need to sort.

I think as ive set the rev limit below the accelerated warm up thats why its popping and banging. not had time to sort it today because its snowing like feck! ill set it back to 8k. also i need to plumb in the, omp vac and the fuel atomiser / get rid of the charcoal canister line too.

was going to ask dr how long should i hold the impeller still for to be safe until oil has gone through? while started

also, how can i get hold of this safe map for my to4r .84 hotside?

need to do fan mod and i want rid of the accelerated warm up. hope i can get at it this week soimetime.

my birds got the ....s (again)

Not to sure what your on about here. Once you turn over a motor the oil starts to pump all over. Never heard of holding the impeller. Are you talking about the compressor blades of the turbo? I dont think you should hold those buddy, unless you want to shorten your fingers.

Quote from: DR SCHNITZEL;581068also, how can i get hold of this safe map for my to4r .84 hotside?

I will post the map up for you tomorrow, Or just email me and I will email it to you. bmlove777@hotmail.com

What the hell? LOL

DR SCHNITZEL

Cheers DR.

yeah i got told to hold the impeller nut while turning the engine over as soon as it tries to start off again a few times so the oil gets through for sure before you first turn the engine on lol. was also advised against this but the amount of stick they get i didnt think it would do harm and it hasnt.

Cheers for the map, if you have sent it. will it suit standard ports and .84 hotside? t04r can you explain a bit about this map to me?

also pfc has just bust so i need a new one let alone datalogit. ouch

I wasnt meant to post that bit, but i did when she told me not to. now i have the shidzt! cheers mate

Dr-Rotor

Ok thats cool. Aslong as you have all your fingers still.

The map I have was tuned for a turbo of similar spec to yours and a stock motor that basicly just had a single turbo straped to it and thats about it. The map is a nice safe AFR thats tuned for a motor to be run in. We tuned it to 10psi.

This map will allow you to drive around and run the motor in. Once thats done it will provide your tuner with something to start with and if he dose not like it then you can always just load up a base map and start from scratch.

Send me a PM when you get datalog-it and a new PFC. Then I will email you the map.

DR SCHNITZEL

ok dude will do, dont suppose you have a spare one of them knocking around do you, it could be a few weeks. can they be repaired? cheers mate
