Quote from: Brett;576055What are you doing with the exhaust ports/sleeves? :)

The Exhaust ports have had the same treatment they too have got on the James material loss propgram :chat

I have also just realised that there is sealant all over the side of the block... must get that off!

Brett

Are you going to fire here up on Tuesday then? :yes

Quote from: dthebuk;575105sorry for being newbish. But apart from an air filter, whats the difference between the throttle bodies and a standard set up? Looks like you get more air in but theres no afm which confuses me :P

AFM is there to measure Air flow, and hence setup fuelling for the injectors.  However, you can use other techniques to work out fuelling if the AFM is no longer there :)

With a MAP sensor (even on an N/A) - you can do speed/density mapping - so the absolute air pressure in the manifold is used to calculate air flow based on RPM

And it all goes horribley wrong!!!!!

Got the whole think back together ECU/wide band done everything. The issues started with a simple throttle linkage problem. Then the system was sticking open and not closing. Sloved that issue. Filled her up with oil. Smooth sailing as you would expect. Then the water. Half way through doing the water i noticed that the system wasn\'t filling up. Checked the oil.... Nasty milky ....e. The same problem as before the rebuild water in the oil and vice verser. Had a cup of tea a ponder and quick converasion with Tim at RX Motors he said best course of action engine out check front and rear side plate to see if the core plugs had gone.

So pulled the motor back out and nothing all still in place. Started re-examining the side and intermidiate housings. Nothing. Had a glance inside the side plate (thats between the 2 faces that make contact with the rotors) HUGE spilt. Water could poor through!!! Massive school boy error missing that one! Really kicked myself after. Stupid stupid stupid.

Long and short is that now thise plates are screwed i can re evaluate the "project". Will be using turbo 2 intermediate plates now making the engine a 4 port instead of the 6port the EGI usually has. Then a large ports and planning permission for some bridging. Will also be making a custom inlet manifold for the ITB\'s.

So stupid mistake maybe a little blessing in disguise in the end.

Awww that is total guttage dude. sorry to hear about that.. :(

So was the split noticeable on the outside? If it was that big surely you would have spotted that? Mind you I suppose that when you are examining the enine following strip you are more concerned with the internal condition.  Bad luck fella but at least now you can do a few more things too it.  Strange how these things happen!!  I too was quite content with my orange FC, engine back out for a rebuilt after doing zero miles and I want to do quite a few more things than i planned initially.  Although mine has been a year in the making why dont we just do the things we really really want to do first time?
Keep the pics coming as it does give a lot of inspiration to us all.

No not visable from the outside. I\'ll get a pic up to show you what i mean later tomorrow. Best way to explain it is if you have your intermeidiate plate (middle of the three) you have the 2 faces that the front and rear rotors rotate against. It was inbetween the 2 faces that had the split through to the water ways. Pic lifted off the web of a inter plate with arrow.

In house made billet fuel rails, the 4 ally tubes will be the injectors holders once machined & 4 550cc TII top feeds.

I was carrying my rotor housings from bench to bench and i slipped and put a massive hole in them. :D
