The car was set up to a wastegate pressure of .8, thing is the car has a Profect B2 fitted, with it turned on and set to LO setting. Whilst cycling through the options the warning boost is set to .8 bar which i presume is the wastegate pressure.

The High setting has a warning boost of 1.2bar and with the car mapped for .8 i would like to know if i should reduce the high setting to .8 to eliminate the risk of accidental over boost.

Furthermore, I would be really grateful if some one could advise on the parameters or whether simply turning off the profect B would be ok as its mapped to the wastegate spring pressure.

Thanks in Advance....

P.s. If it makes any diff, T04R,PFC,Profect B2,All fueling mods.

Is there a way of Checking the pre set boost level? I know how to adjust the boost but is there a button i can press that will bring up what the target boost is set too on High or Low without changing it?? Just to make sure what i\'m seeing is the Pre set level? (Just a little confused and would like some clarification)

I have one of these controllers. The SET GAIN is what the boost will go to. GAIN is used to adjust the boost. eg: If the boost drops off through the revs then increase the GAIN to keep it up. If it spikes or over boosts a little then lower the GAIN.

When in the normal vewing mode and on the low or high setting just turn the silver knob on the right side and it will show you what the boost is set to. Turn the knob just 1 notch and it will flash on the display what boost pressure its set to. If you want to increase it then turn some more then press the knob to set it.

PS 0.8bar is about 12psi. If the controller is set to .8 and the warning boost is also set to .8 then the controller is going to beep at you every time you boost it. Set warning at .95 that way its only about 1psi more.

I have not messed around with mine in a while but Im pretty sure thats how it works.

Yours is the B-spec II right?

Dr Rotor,

Wicked! Main reasons for my concerns were after the car was setup for wastegate pressure, the profec b II was in the glove box. I opened the glove box and accidently pressed the top button (select) whilst turning the device. It\'s then when I noticed Lo/Hig and wanted assurance from someone that uses one.

I\'m sure all the settings are @ 0 for both high and low with only the warning boost being set at .8 for LO and 1.2 High.

This would mean nothing over the wastegate pressure of .8 and warning beeps at the above pressure. I still have to check the boost setting by turning the big knob one click as you described.

Thanks for helping me clear it all up. After a few hundred miles the 7\'s back for a remap for 1 bar. I will then ask for wastegate setting on LO and High being 1 bar.

Thanks :)

O ok thats cool...if your waste gate is .8bar or 12psi you want to adjust the SET GAIN to .6 or .7 this will keep the gate closed untill the controller reads either of those 2 pressures and then it will open it. What this dose causes your turbo to spool faster and boost will come on sooner. Reason for this is that when the waste gate is just opening as pressure increases the spring will slowly open the closer the pressure gets to .8bar Untill it finaly is fully open at .8 bar.

Think about it....because its a spring it will gradualy compress as pressure increases but now that you have a B-SpecII you can keep that spring from compressing untill the pressure is near .8 causing a much quicker boost response and throttle response because the air is not slowly leaking out the gate as it creeps open.

If you put the SET GAIN to close to .8 the boost will spike. I have a .8bar spring and I use a SET GAIN of .7bar

When you turn the silver knob that number you are adjusting is the actual boost that you want to go to. You can also use the set gain to open the WG at what ever boost setting you want, depending on how much you are boosting.
eg: If you want 1 bar boost you can adjust your controller with the Silver knob untill you start to see 1bar or around 15psi on your boost gauge. If boost drops off then increase the GAIN and if boost spikes then decrease GAIN to get the boost to sit stedy on 1BAR or 15psi. Then set your SET GAIN to .85 or .9 and check to see that your boost dose not spike, if it dose just lover the SET GAIN a little untill you have it so that the turbo response is lightning fast and the boost holds steady at 1bar.

To under stand how this WG controll works you need to do a pull in 3rd or 4th from low rpm and low speed. Watch how long the boost takes to increase on your gauge as the WG spring creeps open. Then try a SET GAIN closer to your desired boost level and watch how much quicker the boost gauge will increase pressure. This is what helps keep boost response fast through gear changes.
