I want a bit more kick from my EGI (never happy am i lol... stop it leaking and then want to push it harder)

Current mods:
Powerflow exaust to the cat, Standerd to the block
Cone Filter (not enclosed, fed or isolated from the engine bay)
Stripped rear (then changed all the speakers and fitted 2 amps... weight reduction for the backwards hey...)

Hoping to take it drifting this year (oulton park mainly) and would like bit bit more power from her

anyone any ideas?

depends on your budget and drivability.

without having an overhaul, id say get rid of the cat, this can be done with a decent header(i think). If you go for the racing beat header this also get ride of the baffles, freeing more horses. Other than that a decent cold air feed and a good tune. Oh and talk to brett. :D

edit: oh and get rid of the air pump.

Get a turbo II lol just kidding lol :D Apparently the racing beat headers are very good, as said above lol might be an idea to look into those :) what HT leads are you running? I found there to be a difference when I replaced the old thin HT leads :)

its a valid point, it can be cheaper than a bridgeport :D

but then once u got a turbo u\'ll still want MORE POWER!!! arh.. the addictiveness of fc\'s :mmmm

I did want one originally but all the ones i looked at were rust buckets then this one poped up for the right price and fairly clean, if anyone wants to swap a clean t2 for my rebuilt egi then i might be interested ;)

not sure on the HT leads, they look fairly new, 2 black and 2 blue (assume to distinguish between leading and trailing side)

dthebuk

well if you can find a TII with a decent engine you can transplant everything across into the egi. You need more than the engine  so it actually easier to have TII doner car

i was thinking of selling my s12 silvia and getting a ratty t2 and re-building the engine but £ is the issue at the moment....

dthebuk

well if your willing to do the work yourself, why not pull the 6 port out out take it apart and take it to a rotary specialist to get it street ported? its about £300 i think. Though im not sure if you\'ll need a new ecu.

anyway, im out of ideas now :D

You have to be really careful. The parts may too warn for a quick port. N/A run more miles but wear out instead of going bang.

WGT do headers for the FC, but they won\'t be cheap !

What kind of power are you running at now ?

A fully derestricted exhaust system from the ports back will net you another 30 odd bhp, but it will be very loud. (I happen to like anti social :Giggle) You might as well dump all the emissions control system if you do the full exhaust job - this won\'t gain you much addition power, but it will take a little load off of the engine and clear up some space in the engine bay.
You will be better off putting the stock airbox back in place and running a K&N panel filter. (Unless you plan to port the engine and duct cold air to the filter)

Jackson racing do a supercharger kit fot the EGi - but I\'ve not met any one in the UK who has used one.

Taking an EGi beyond 190bhp is going to require opening up the engine, but there is not that much extra you can do to the 6 ports before you start running out of space between the metal and the water jacket. (Unless you go really extreme)

EGi\'s are cracking cars - one of the few cars that can be driven hard everywhere, but I\'m not sure they have enough torque to make a good drifter...

Wear shouldnt be a issue, the engine was re-built by hurley not long ago,

its supposidly running 160bhp (before the filter change)

its already quite loud with the single box on her, think the next job looks like it will be a de-cat and remove the airpump system...

thing that worries me is my airpump has a sticker on it saying "do not remove no oiling"

Brett

They all say that :D

I\'ve got a pile of airpumps in one of the sheds ;)

Sorry for the thread hi jack but is it (air pump removal) easy enough to do Brett? I have no need for mine but kinda worried about removing it for some reason. I take it its just a case of unbolting it then blanking off the holes that are left.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)
