Hi guys, im gradually building a 400bhp FC, probably going to be running at 1.2 bar at the end :)

Just thought I would ask at what point would I need to install WI so that my car can run safely at higher boost?

I know that the FD runs at about 0.9 bar standard (please correct if this isn\'t the case as im an FC guy lol) so am I ok up to about 0.9bar of boost before I have issues?

No level of boost is safe if its not correctly mapped for it and the mods done to the engine. Radically change the VE of the engine with exhaust and intake mods and you can pop a engine at levels below 0.9 bar. Its all down to your tuner, what he is happy tuning to without the added safeguard of WI. As there are no hard and fast rules where you must run WI at a certain point.

nicely put kev, i will be running WI as a safety measure and will be running 1 bar.

i think the stock fd runs 10 8 10 psi but im not sure??

Ok, I will look into getting WI soon :) I have an uprated intercooler and will have an IC sprayer and maybe Cryogenics soon, It will be running on a e-manage ultimate, but I will be progressive with mods from now, got a long way to go lol

Where can I get a good WI kit from? Would it be possible to create a DIY kit with a high pressure pump?

Prof

There are quite a few good kits for WI - if you can afford it Aquamist is probably your best bet, but you can swap bits out of each if you want - other vendors are Coolingmist, Devilsown - can\'t think of any others off my head.

Like has been said already - you can have WI just as a safety cushion, but if you do map for it, then make sure you put plenty of fail safes in for when you run dry (it\'s easy to get carried away on a track day or some general hoonage, and if you\'ve a small tank then it can run out quick :eek )

I have run 1.2 without water on 5 to 6 track days on a t88 with no problem at all just depends on the tune,

Ok :) I have found a WI kit I might be getting, what size nozzle should I go for? Or do I just need a fogger?

Nozzle size depends on how much water you want in the mix.  Larger nozzle will reduce pressure but passes more water, smaller nozzle keeps pressure higher, but will limit maximum flow rate.

So how much water you want ?
