Hi, does anyone know if I get a downpipe and midpipe from the U.S. if it will fit on my car.  I take it that the U.S. ones will be for left hand drive cars.

20B_boy

Down pipe wont fit due to steering column.

Midpipe will fit but whats the point in getting one from the US when u can get them for comparatively f/a in the UK?

TheJackal

Well its $95 or so for both pipes in polished stainless steel.  If you can get them for this in the UK please let me know.

20B_boy

$95 for each bit of the pair? Any idea what the quality is like?

Any ways, exhausts/bits of are heavy - it will cost you a load to get it here - and then you can add admin/clearance fees, duty and vat - another 30% in total on top of goods + shipping may be...

A few people are selling stainless midpipes for £100-150.

Just trying to say it might not be as cheap as you think by the time u get it here...let us know how u get on tho.

Its $95 for both pipes, shipping is another $90 so $185 in total, the quality looks pretty good. See ebay item 7907608838, there is a pic there of the parts. Suppose its academic if the down pipe will not fit.

Can you do Diamond cut polishing type thing? It\'s for the lip on a set of split rims.
Mines Black and dirtier than Donatos. But hey, no-one asked for a good clean fight.

DRAGON

We have mid-pipes in stock, straight through £110 and silenced £130.

Hey Dragon, do you also have downpipes, if so how much ?

TheJackal

Hi, I have had a reply from the guy selling the pipes in the U.S. as follows:

"Hi,

I\'m pretty sure, I\'ve sold 2 sets to U.K. & Hong Kong before. So far my
customer didn\'t reply with fitment on Right hand drive FD3S. Thank you
on inquiry !!!"

Do we believe this ?

I thought the idea beind fitting a down pipe on the yank cars was to eliminate the pre-cat. Since our cars don\'t have pre-cats (well, mine doesn\'t anyway) I wouldn\'t have thought there was much point other than for cosmetic reasons. Plus like 20B_boy said, I\'m sure it wouldn\'t fit anyway....have a look at your stock down pipe, it\'s flattened out quite a bit to clear the steering shaft.

fro

Thought all the FDs had pre-cats?

I can vouch for the quality of Ross\' midpipes - bought a silenced one from him last week and it\'s peachy :)
Cheers

I\'m pretty sure it was a US only thing. It was the only way Mazda could get their smoggy little rotary to comply with the uber-strict US emissions laws. Did nothing to help the underbonnet temperatures. Maybe it\'s just the J-specs that don\'t have a pre-cat? I\'ll clamber under my car on the weekend and check.

20B_boy

UK cars had pre-cat too. JDM not.

Nway , looking at that picture shows that the downpipe sadly will not fit a RHD car as the top section is WAY WAY TOO FAT to have steering as well !!

Real sorry but the mid pipe seems to have one bend missing as well !! .

If it\'s any help l have a S/ H 3\'\' downpipe and a straight through mid pipe you can have for £100 plus whatever it costs to post.

Hope this helps.
All the best Clive
