Ok well thought now that Ive had a chance to wave my magic fixing and modding wand that id post up some pics of my 2nd FD and its progress since getting it about 4 weeks ago :)

First of all I got myself the car, this is how she looked when I done the swap for my Drift Spec S13, Some thought I was mad but I disagree and tend to do what I want anyway especially if it goes against all reasoning.

She was running 0.3 bar of boost when I picked her up and was clearly not running right at all. Lots of silly little things wrong like the kit not fitted properly etc as well. On driving it for the first time the clutch was sticking to the floor and the car felt gutless. Thats said though it ran smoothly, started well, and had no abnormal smoke of rattles etc so I knew that the engine was in a reasonable state and had my suspicions as to what was wrong with it having had my last FD.

I got her home and got set aboot it! Sure enough my suspicions were right about the lack of boost, lots of cracked vac pipes and a HUGE hole in the main intercooler to turbo rubber joiner!

Sorted this lot out and sure enough she ran great! Still a bit rich though which turned out to be due to a broken water thermosensor telling the ECU the car was always still cold!!!

First Task after getting her running properly was to get rid of the HIDEOUS wheels!
So a friend helped me out by selling me these Blitz Racing Split Rims ........ NICE!

Then The wrecked bodged fake 99 spec front bumper had to go, A quick phone call to Dragon and Ross hooked me up :D

I had to go to the USA with work so the car got dumped at my parents house where my dad had the joy of unwrapping the new bumper and fitting it for me to save me time when I got home :)

After some tinkering and fixing loads of silly things whilst doing the non sequential conversion this weekend, I finally got to see some daylight and reasonably dry weather so took these pictures!

This is how she currently sits.

Next on the cards is to remove the ABS this weekend, then at the same time De-Limit her and HOPEFULLY fix my clutch once and for all!. IM also expecting a bonus soon so planning to get a nice big front mount, Single turbo conversion and run her on an Emanage (Mainly because its different, I\'ve done the PFC thing with my last one but have ALOT of experience under my belt using Emanage on various cars)

I will also be lowering her a fair bit this weekend to get shot of the crappy Type X super soft suspension!

Also at the weekend I Fitted my short shifter, and extended my exhaust by about 3 inches to make it sit better with the chargespeed Rear bumper/diffuser.

Its all go at this end and I plan on doing a LOT more in the coming months too!

Hi Steve and Welcome back to the Rotary world,

You have just shown what I say to many people and that is lots of people sell these cars only to end buying another,

Real pleaseing for us that we have had so many new people who have just recently brought cars and have found MRC http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxmk696YYGB%2526i%253D36%252F36%255F1%255F21%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank">http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_21.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0">http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D36%252F36_1_21/image.gif">

Hello Clive! Long time no speak :)

I seen your post where you mentioed that !

What can I say, ever since that little Euno Turbo I built Ive not found anything as fun to drive as a Mazda built Sports car :)

I missed my silver FD loads!

Whens Rotorstock 2009 then ??? Im hoping to attend and have a play in a rotary this time!

How have you been ? Hows your daughter ? Does Donato still pop in here for a nosey now and then or has he long since moved on ?

As for that 6 in the drive, thats my Dad\'s car, I still head back to my parents house when Im tinkering as we have a fully kitted out workshop there and I only live in a flat with no garage or off street parking :(

Haha cheers for all the comments guys!

Craig, where in glasgow you based ? Im trying to get some sort of scottish RX meet arranged but there never seems to be anyone interested! LOL

The plan was originally to make it a drifty RX7 yes, however Ive decided due to lack of places to go up here in Scotland for drifting that for 2009 im going to focus on track work. Not only is it still good fun but its cheaper too, theres a hell of a lot less consumables required i.e. tons of tyres and its far easier to find a track day than it is a drift day :)

It does have a 1.5 way Mazdaspeed Diff already fitted so although its not a full 2 way it still locks up well enough to drift if I do find somewhere to go, but it will definately be a more track focused car this time round :)

Well, more progress last night !

Whipped off the passenger kick panel which is where the ECU lives with the plan to remove the speed limiter, however was faced with a mass of wires taped up, chopped, soldered and all sorts

So it was out with the laptop and fired up the wiring manual I have to try and work out what on earth was going on!!

Alot of the wires hanging about were redundant and had been tapped into ECU signal wires possibly for somee sort of aftermarket injector controller and also for a turbbo timer as well. However there was one wire that had me stumped!

It was soldered into the wire on one plug and then looped over and onto a wire on another plug.

I have seen some mad JDM wiring in my time however had never seen this done, so set about finding exactly what it was tapping into.

On further investigation the wire was coming from one of the ECU ground terminals and going to the Fuel Thermosensor. I believe the effect this was having was that it was making the ECU think that the car was always cold therefore forcing it to chuck in extra fuel!

SO I have returned everything back to factory spec and then was able to remove the speed sensor wire which in turn de limits the car

Everything seems to be running sweet now and I am sure that its actually running smoother too

RESULT!!!

Roll on the weekend so that I can lower it and remove my ABS then give it a damn good polishing !

Yeh I love the rims, got them for a steal £200 with almost new tyres!!!

Im going to removethem over the winter and split them apart so that I can do the centres white and polish the lips.

Someone has had them refurbed at some point but just done thwm with powdercoat without taking them apart so the lips, bolts and centres are all powder silver :( what a half assed job!!! :reallymad
