Anyone know which wheels are the lightest and widest wheels out there for an fd?

What diameter?
R34GTR OEM wheels are 18x9 ET30 and forged mag IIRC = pretty darned floaty.
Can be had for reasonable money.
There\'s always going to be a pay off against strength - for instance Dymag\'s and the like are super floaty, but i\'d certainly never run them on a road car, or without a large slush fund at my disposal.

I have a set of BBS LMs, and also a set of Volk TE37s. I reckon the BBS are twice the weight of the Volks!

Mag wheels are the best...depends on the width you want though.

I thought my wheels felt really light.  Really shocked me when the tyres where put on - didnt think they would be THAT heavy :2Confused

Craig with the FD V8 came to us with the task of finding a very wide wheel to gain maximum traction but also it had to be a very light wheel ,

Turns out not many can supply a wheel over 10inch in width however we supplied him the 13x18 wheel pictured below and even had Titanium bolts fitted to hold the rims together,

These wheels were custom made for us  in America and when they arrived they were HUGE like something that belonged on a Le Mans car rather than an FD and whilst not cheap Craig has used these to great effect this season

Volk do a range of Mag\'s as well - the TE37 is available in an LE Mag version IIRC. Much floatyness :)

Enkei RPF01\'s are silly light if my memory serves me correctly too.

What diameter are you after?

It\'s also worth remembering that speccing brakes here is important - there\'s no point going for silly massive discs if you are nowhere near your limit - downsize on rotating mass and you will reap the benefits.

At the moment im running super advans(the old three spoke style)17x10 on the rear and 17x 9 on the front i need to make sure they will also take a nice size set of brakes, for when i eventually find some and also will be having some wider arches on the car but unsure of what width arches.

Clive those look awsom but at over $4000 for some 17" wheels im way to tight to spend that, may be a daft question but i dont know so gotta ask-how heavy is a light wheel considered to be?

Contact Compomotive ( //www.comp.co.uk ) Dont know if they are competitive in the lightweight (they say that they light wheels, but you can get them wide :driving  I have seen 17\'s at 12" wide on the website)

Im pretty sure that the carbon fibre Dymag wheels are the lightest lol

See my comment above about running carbon wheels ;)

Compo\'s are unfortunately a lot heavier than they cleaim to be - MO\'s are pretty damned weighty in fact.

m1tch

Sorry :( lol im getting tired lol I do agree with the downsizing of wheel size though, im running 16s and I have found that they seem optimal regarding rotational mass and tyre surface :) 17s or above are for show, 16s or below are for tracks lol which is why classic minis run on 10" rims :D
