Ive noticed that a lot of cars that come up for sale have had recent rebuilds around 1000 miles ago (apparently).

Could this be because people have ignored the running in period and started to bugger the engine already?  It doesnt make sense to me to spend £2500+ only to sell the car, and sometimes for little money.

Am i wrong, or just noticing the obvious?

People who cant afford to run an FD buy one, blow it up, have to rebuild it because they r worth about 3p busted. Then sell, one bitten etc.

agreed, although its been more than once i have been bitten.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Yeah, it happens loads.  A few of them are lucky to have the builds done on warrenties but most of them just end up spending a fortune and needing the money back.

MintyFresh

I see.

Ive got to admit price of ownership surprised me, is a Supra TT better or worse on fuel economy?  Either way, i still think the FD is worth the extra bucks for the handling, looks, and the pain in the arse rotary :)

J4P RX

I think everything is better on fuel economy lol, but I wouldnt swap it for a lardy supe :)

The supra was the only other car i was interested when buying my rex, and it was the overall weight issue that lured me to an FD.

I like the shape of the Supra, but i think they are far too common on the roads now.  Although looking in these forums i think the rex isnt gonna be very rare for long...

I think out of the performance market the rx7\'s are still the rareist around as for example this sunday at jap show in Notts, all other car groups had their areas full of their cars, we only had a round 12 cars!

Yeah, no question. The import market has certainly made the rex more common (apparently there were only a few hundred in the UK a few years back) but it\'s still far,far rarer than any other jap marque i can think of.

Supras are nice, but too big...just not something you could call a beautiful design, whereas the FD is amongst the best ever...maybe along with the DB7.

Not everything is worse in an economy sense, remember on Top Gear they featured a standard Dodge Charger which returned 1mpg!!!

Nah theres loads of things rarer, so rare I go all gooey if I see one.  A couple of months back a JZX90 Toyota Chaser appeard in the block next to my work.  I almost wanted to find the guy and offer to buy it right away!  Its the only one Ive ever seen.

Then theres things like Nissan Cefiros of which I hear from friends there is at least one in the Uk, but I have never seen one.

Loads of things it would be cool to have, but not really practical to get and that people wouldnt understand.  Id love a PS13 drift car, I could go on all day lol.

You say that, I though that too until I sold the scooby, I\'ve been pottering around in a 1976 2.3 Land Rover SWB I reckon I\'m getting around 8-10 mpg round town! AND I\'m only driving at 25 mph (you go seriously deaf if you go over 35! LOL)
