First off. When i had the CRX i was ALWAYS told anything bigger that 16 will kill the handling. But that was a little tiny car and it weighed less than a ton!

I KNOW it will negativley effect the 7\'s handling. The wheels i want to put on are 18 inch and weigh roughly 20 lbs each (without tyres!). I might not even bother its just that they look SOOOOOOOOOOOO good! Lol!

So if it was a road going racing car i was aiming for (which im not! Tried that with the CRX! HATED it! Lol!) i wouldnt even consider it. But with the 7 i\'m just trying to build a really nice fast road car, that can hold its own in the twisty bits.

So if i go from 17\'s weighing roughly 20lbs WITH tyres to these 18s is it suddely going to flop around the road like a whale?

Might sound like a stupid question, but humour me?:Giggle

Thanks guys!

nope, i\'ve had a fd with 17\'s/18\'s & 19\'s and all were ok tbh.

The lighter you go the better off you are. I\'ve only ever had 17\'s on the FD but I used to have 19\'s on an FTO without any real problems.

What wheels are they?

20lb is pretty darn heavy for a rim :( Wheel weight makes a HUGE difference to how the car drives as it\'s rotational mass so effects braking, suspension compliance, and steering.

I went from stock wheels on my previous car to lightweight forged ones with a slightly lower offset and a little wider, but stuck with exactly the same tyres, and the car was totally different - so much more responsive. I wish i\'d kept them instead of changing again :(

Mine\'s on 18s and handles superbly (mainly a track car) - you\'ve just gotta get the geometry setup right, regardless of what wheels you\'re running.

Personally wouldnt go for bigger than 18\'s. have driven RX\'s with 16, 17, 18 and 19\'s and the 19\'s felt somewhat vague although they had high quality rubber.

I have lightweight (Kei Racing D1) 18s and they\'re fine....as light as the stock wheels if not lighter I think (never weighed them) though obviously the rotational mass is moved further out which is worse.
