Anyone ever run out of fuel in an FD?

Does it cough and splutter for a few miles, or will it just cut out pretty much straight away...

I had thought my fuel pump was dying, but think I might just of run out of fuel... :rollin

It coughed and spluttered for a good 2-3 miles till I filled it up, since then its been fine... (still have suspicions my pump is knackered though)

I\'ve had a few sessions of red light rulet, but always won thank god!! One thing to watch out for though, the Walbro pumps burn out if they run with out fuel in them!! the Murcury 2 stroke outboards use them & they are buggers for frying the high pressur pumps when the tanks run low!!!

so, sounds like I just ran out of fuel, which is a bugger cos I was only on a reading of 236miles since last full fill up... must\'ve been some good runs in there  :)

can usually last out till about 270 till the red light comes on...

And before you ask, my fuel gauge is knackered so I have to go by the odometer trip  :D

you will be burning more fuel because of the cold temps of the weather

good point...

On one hand its nice to be able to cool those oil temps down so quickly in the cold, but I\'m always a little wary of booting it too much incase the fueling is being affected too much and it runs lean/rich

I\'m getting far too paranoid these days... :)

hahaha! Two points, dude; one, you can never be paranoid enough with a Rex :yes, and two, 270 to reserve light   that\'s an outrage! I\'ve never even got 250 out of mine

Glad to hear it looks like you havent broke it again, anyway!

rx jamie

yeah mine went mid drift due to fuel starvation only had about a gallon in. that scared the life out of me.

well, it used to get 270, seems to be getting less and less now though... looks like I\'ll have to start filling up at 200miles  :(

I can never trust my fuel gauge light anyway... the whole thing is knackered

when my petrol gauge reserve light screwed up for the first time, it spluttered and died rapidly on the dual carriageway - i managed to restart it but it died again 100 yards later with the needle just off the reserve - i thought i\'d seriously screwed something until i found out the bulb had gone. It was just after i fitted a supra tt pump and i think the sock is shorter or something. it read 247 miles on the odometer trip, and i havent let it go more than 220 without filling up since !!
