What would insurance be like for a 22 yr old just passed test on an FD. Anyone else got insured with it being there first car

If i can, lol. I guess everyone will actually know its not a 1.3 but a 2.6..

All or any help would be greatly appreciated...

Timmy

£3000ish and probably tpf&t only. No offence you\'ll probably also crash it, your\'ll be shocked how powerful they actualy are.

No offence taken matey. I have driven a few rwd cars that have more power on private land :driving:D Would love a rex though. Suppose a spoiler would help as i know they tend to be abit twitchy....

Anyone know of any decent insurers that are likely to give me a qoute as i cant seem to find rx7 on any insurance websites.. Thanks

I guess your best starter is Adrian Flux. Elephant may also look at taking you.

You wont find the car on many of the Confused.com style websites as many mainstream insurers simply wont touch imports, let alone an RX7 import.

I think on costs you\'re probably looking around at least £2,000+ with a fresh licence (and hence no ncb), and also being under the magical 25.

As for a spoiler stopping the rear end twitching, unless you\'re driving like a numpty at silly speeds, it\'ll probably do next to nothing for you. Similarly, most on the market are purely for show and have little to no actual practical downforce usage.

SiH

Lots.

I really would advise you not to get one as a first car - it\'ll be a proper baptism of fire.

On the plus side, if you don\'t kill yourself or someone else within the first 6 months (I know i would have done) then you\'ll probably turn out to be a really good driver :)

i\'m 22 (23 in jan) with a clean license held for 5 years and 2 years ncb. Flux quoted me £1300 third party/fire/theft on an import with no mods, which i think is pretty fair.

TTMan

im 20 with elephant 4 yrs no claims next month (bonus accelerator) and i pay £1500 fully comp. got an SP30 as well. Honestly unless you want to pay through the teeth for your insurance I would not advise an FD as your first car!

trotter

i\'m 24 with 6 years NCB and im still paying 925 on a slightly modded FD.

TBH mate, i really wouldnt advise getting one as a first car, if you must have something blown and RWD go for a 200sx or something to get used to the feel of it....again, no offence meant!! But theres a lot of difference playing around on private land and driving down a pitchblack country road with ice/rain/fog about. These things can and do bite hard!!

If you\'re gonna go for it though (and if you can afford it - do!!) don\'t waste time with website quotes as they won\'t touch you. Get a copy of Banzai/Jap Performance/Max Power or similar and spend a few hours on the phone going through the insurance companies at the back

also, join a members club!

i\'m going to buy full membership on here when i get my fd insured (unless i have to sell it, but let\'s not go into that...) because flux told me they\'d knock 15% off the premium.
