Well for almost 3 years the Rx7 has been dormant in the garage and im about to revive it from its ancient slumber (fingers crossed).

Apart from removing the drain plug on the fuel tank which is proberbly seized tighter than a ducks......you get the idea. Is there anyother way to syhpon the old fuel and sediment......?

I could remove the fuel filter and pump it through using the fuel pump via the ignition but thats still not going to get rid of the sediment because the pump has a filter as well and i dont want to risk burning the pump out so thats a no no.

Even abit of garden hose in the filler neck :guinness (providing it does have a anti syphon system) will result in leaving cacky sediment at the bottom.

Am i right in thinking i can remove the fuel pump from the boot to gain access to the tank?

Yup, undo all those screws under the carpet in the boot, take out the pump and you will have good access to the tank.

Cool cheers bud. Just out of interest does fuel lose its octane level over time?

SiH

Yup, it does go off remarkably quickly :(

Drain plug is you best bet - clean all the crap from around it and get a good 6 sided socket on it. Mine was a bit of a bugger, but came off with some brute force :)

You may wanna give it a quick oil change and crank it for abit without fuel to give it abit of oil pressure first before firing.

Our track FD sometimes sits for 6 months at a time, maybe a little bit more without being started and fires up pretty much first time everytime.  Never left one for over a year though.

How healthy was the engine before you left it?

SCOOMER

Yep the engine is pretty healthy having only covered 8K after my last engine refresh.

Changing the oil is on the list as well as cleaning oil off the discs (save them going rusty), releasing air from the tyres (hope they havnt got flat spots).....etc, etc...

Drain plug on the FB unscrewed remarkably easy. Not been touched for 24 years.

Draining it through the plug is the easiest.  If the tank has minimal water in it then the drain shouldn\'t be too hard to remove.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

To drain the fuel tank of petrol I usually take it for a short drive,....tank empty ...no probs

I also didnt fancy removing the re-amemiya diffuser just to get to the plug, or maybe thats me getting old/lazy :)
