DR SCHNITZEL

Hi all again, just got taxed and insured on my rx after having a new engine and map, but i took it out today, it has been run in. and when i boosted it for the first time. the boost is waving up and down between 6 - 8, it wont hold steady boost. any ideas what exactly to look for.

BlitzBoy

Take back to whoever mapped it I say, what spec turbo and boost controller is it?

standard twins, pfc, the primary turbo is making a nasty whirring sound and a air escaping sound too. also theres some nasty noise coming from the belts/pulleys which seems to get better the longer its driven. cheers blitze im onto em

Pop it back to Lindops mate, they are very much pains in the bum with the rats nest and all those actuators, you may fine its an issue in there or with the turbo\'s but im sure Colin can sort it for you. :Thumbs-up

DR SCHNITZEL

Groovy, ive just phoned dwayne he said the same, i just need to get transport etc, so will be end o the week or early next, heard your busy boys so if it takes you 3 weeks to sort it ill have saved at least 250 quid in petrol.

Steve-Q

:Giggle  Always a good reason to brake you Rx7, saves on fuel when you cant use it. I had a simular issue with mine, kept boosting an the dumping it when it shouldn\'t not switching ect. I went non - seq to get rid of all the rats nest, see what they say with yours, might be a route to take. if ya wanna test one with non - seq, PM me and ill leave it there get Dwayne to take you out in it.

cheers

I having a same problem when i let off i get a big whurring whoosh from the bonnet. no boost. pip said its the solenoid between the two turbo\'s stocking shut or staying open thus giving no boost or only 1st turbo. mine being replaced tomorrow about 200 quid from pip fitted ish. sound like the same problem, what does anybody else think

Thats an awful lot of money to sort a stuck solenoid. i had an rx with only 1st turbo working, it was a pipe crushed under the uim, shortened it 10cm prob solved, 30 mins to do. Lee my secondary turb works fully and the transition is nice its just the 1st is whirry and gassy sounding, and the 2nd on wot moves .6 to .8 up and down 2wice a second.does that sound like your problem. it actually held boost once today properly so i can maybe now describe my problem as intermittent.

DR SCHNITZEL

Hi ste my last engine was non seq and i didnt like it at all. ill see what mpg im getting then might go back to non seq but i want single tub next year for big ish hp.

leerx7uk

Oh ok then. my solenoid was £40 quid and 1.5 hr labour to fit so all in all with vat was 160 quidw boosting like a gudnnn.....for now LOL

DR SCHNITZEL

boing. i really missed sequential, i just want it to run properly like this until i get the cash together for big single turbo, next year. i just need to get a lift back from lindop when i drop the car off. unless i bike it. hmm me and excercise are not the best o friends

DR SCHNITZEL

Still not holding boost on WOT in any gear, its waving up and down like mad, ive tried removing the bov and changing the recirc bov but still bad boost and its spiking past .8 too, any one else had this exact problem when the second turbo kicks in

Nik da Greek

Not trying to be funny, but is the actual boost fluctuating, or just the gauge? Cos as far as I\'m aware, the characteristics of rotaries can have a funny effect on some boost gauges, making them flap about wildly. The first one I had on my car did this, and I thought there was something up with the engine! They need the vaccuum line from the plenum to have a restrictor put in so the hole through it is only a couple of millimeters wide, then they work fine. Not saying it is that, but worth eliminating all the easy stuff first, yeah?

DR SCHNITZEL

Cheers nik, it worked fine on the last engine and had 2 guages on it also so its not that, the boost fluctuating is actually also audible. making a deep whirring sound when the boost dips, it sounds like resistance of some sort. im well puzzled.

DR SCHNITZEL

still not holding the boost, i dont think this would be a solenoid or vac line would it? has anyone else had a similar problem. could it be my turbos are knackered?
