Finally got my RX after months of waiting... but already i am having issues...

mainly its losing water every now and again... carpets inside had 2 small spots on yesterday but it was raining so cant say if it was the matrix... engine was rebuilt about 3k ago by hurley, any common problems that could cause a loss of water?

also its losing clutch fluid... when stood still more than moving... checked it sunday morning and it was fine (had been for a week) drove 6 miles to work parked up got in it at 5pm and couldnt get her in gear checked and their was no clutch fluid left... its had a new clutch + slave cyl, any ideas?

next i am probably going to get hit with the FAQ for but here goes... wipers only work in position 1 no others... how does the switch come out and also any easy fix?

sorry in advance for any noob obvious ones but i am used to nissans... (ok now i am just asking to be lynched arnt i...)

Firstly - warm welcome to FC ownership :)

Water loss - could be leaking from one of the rad pipes under pressure - check the jubilee clips - could also be leaking out of the rad - the end caps get brittle and they are plastic.

Other places to check for water loss:

Under the water pump pully - the fan is attached to the water pump, there is a weep hole - if the bearing goes, it will leak water from there.  It could also be the engine pressurising the coolant system with combustion gases - this is usually seen as frothing of the coolant from the expansion bottle - should be easy enough to spot.

Clutch fluid - most likely it\'s leaking from either master or slave cylinder, or the small rubber hose on the bulkhead - check for \'wet\' areas and also inside the car near the clutch pedal - in case it\'s leaking through.

Your wiper switch issue is a common problem - it\'s caused by a relay failing - there are some threads on here about it - you should also check out teamfc3s - http://www.teamfc3s.org/info/articles/wipers.html - a good place to start.

welcome aboard - the clutch - you might now find that you have a 16 yr old clutch pipe and due to the new parts - its split

easy enough to change and its about £16 to do

and do as prof says check by the pedal to see if its leaking around that area

thanks for that, still not had chance to check the clutch but i think the heater matrix has gone and thats whats leaking... (still got to finish my silvia as well lol)

to block it off can i just blank 2 two pipes off in the engine bay or would i need to connect them together?

Still loving owning it :) handles miles better than either of my 200sx\'s did

Hi and welcome to the weird world of FC ownership. The problems you have mentioned are all common problems of the FC and shouldn\'t be too hard to cure so don\'t panic. Like the guys say the clutch flexi hose is prone to leaking so check that. Water leaks best checking all the connections and radiator for damp areas. And the wiper switch is easy enough to swap out you just need to find a replacement for yours.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

connect the matrix pipes together rather than block off
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!
