Hi Guys i\'m wondering if anyone can either make me or explain in very small simple words how to make some wiring for my lights. Basicaly i got some new lights with the bullet style lights a while ago see here:

Now the lights themselves were better than the stock ones but I was still not impressed so I did a bit of searching and found these:

Now with the new lights fitted i\'m much happier, the halo give the lights a great look and they are alot brighter, but I\'ve got a prob where I only get 1 light for main and 1 for full beam, can anyone help me get one full main and both for full beam?

I will say now that I am useless with electrical things, I managed to wire up the lights in series to the side lights and that is about my limit. I understand the system completes a circuit to each of the lights and when you changed from one to the other the circuits switches also, I tried wireing both together but this keeps both on regardless of full or main being selected.

I\'ve seen other thread were people say you need to run a wire from the lights to the battery, but this is where I get confused. They all talk about the wiring harness they got with their lights, well I didn\'t get a wireing harness, just 4 lights with bullet connectors and a lighting harness in the car with spade connecors :3Confused. I switched the connectors on the lights (all by myself!) to spade and even managed to join the 2 black wires on the lights together (as the original connector for the lights has 2 pos and 1 neg connectors) but i\'m clueless as what to do now. I know it can be done but i\'m buggered if I can figure out how.

So can anyone help please? i am aware my explination is not 100% clear so just ask if you cannot decifer my gibberish

Hmmm - can\'t help you with the wiring issue, im afraid.

However, i was wonderin where you got the original lights from (the small black ones with silver lens surround)?  Did they come with the kit?  If so, where did you get the kit from?

And what are you planning on doing with your ones, now you have replaced them with Angel Eyes? :D

If you hadn\'t guessed, im planning on a light upgrade myself (something custom) - and your \'old\' lights above look just the right size etc.  Only thing is that I would need 6-8 of them (maybe more) :D

Damn, thought someone had solved my woes, lol. I got they lights from someone one this forum, must be about 2yrs ago now. I was just planning on sticking them in the garage/blackhole them out so feel free to make an offer fella. They\'ve got bulbs but they are not too bright.

To minimise cutting into existing loom you could use the following method (see attached diagram). I would use one each side of car so that if a relay or fuse fails you still have lights on one side.

FD3UK

Doh, that will not work, the lights will be on all the time. Let me think again.

In theory, you need to splice the two Live wires together, with a Diode in it to ensure power only goes one way.

With the diode the right way round, Power for High Beam would also go to the Main Beam light, but power for Main Beam would be blocked from going to the High Beam light.

Maplins should be able to supply a diode to handle the power (although you\'ll need to check the voltage/power draw of the lamps)

Regarding the old lights, are there any markings on them? manufacturer / model, etc?  Something to help me google them? :D
Provided I can get a second set, i\'d be pretty interested in taking yours too.  I\'m not too worried if they\'re a bit dull (im still on stock lamps atm) as I figure 3 or 4 of them each side should provide enough output :D  Although I still need to come up with something to use for High Beam - maybe a second set of 4/side? :D

Bobbit

Like the sound of the Diode, sounds nice and simple. I\'ll have a check on the lights for you bud.
FD3UK appreciate the pic bud, I think i can see that it would not work, is it where the wires meet up? lol. Seriously tho, thanks for the effort fella, not sure why it wont work but i\'ll trust ya.

With the inclusion of the Diode, the above pic should work fine (just need to include the diode on the wire linking the two lights)

You might want to check with someone who has done electronics stuff more recently than me (Prof perhaps?) - it\'s been a good 15 years since i did my Electronics + Communications Engineering course :D

No need for diode with circuit I have shown in diagram. The change over relay will supply power to low light only, then change over to supply power to both lights when high beam wire is live. problem is lights will be on all the time :Hammer I was trying to keep it simple but got carried away:Giggle

logicalChimp

If the two live wires are joined at the Low Light, then the Low Light will also supply power to the High Light - thus both lamps will come on at the same time, regardless of whether the switch is set to \'Low\' or \'High\'

Regarding them being on all the time, I kinda guessed that your relay would ensure that if the switch was set to \'Off\' that neither would get power :D

FD3UK

A changeover relay has a feed in and 2 feeds out but only one is live depending if the coil is energised.

FD3UK

Ahhh yes, just looked  at circuit again there is feed back which would require a diode. It looks like a very bad circuit full stop now.

rustyrex

I have  the fleabay bugeye headlights, if the wires and relay work with your lights bobbit you can have them.
anybody know if this will work?

FD3UK

I have some of those as well, they will work fine.

Bobbit

How much do you want for the wires etc rustyrex? Any you are a star fella!
