right.....just got off the blower with pip.
the good news all round is that he has not needed to take the engine out to diagnose the problem. he says he can tell just by the spark plug! (he is a better man than me)....
so his labour stands at an hour! which is neither here nor there.
i alson asked his opinion on what he thought the car was worth in that condition, and he says he paid 500 for a similar one.
so, grinder, feel free to pop round for a look then let me know what you think. cheers

you say it\'s not cheap, but if the body is v solid and cosmetically it\'s tidy once the engine is rebuilt it should be worth £3k-£3.5k if not more (I was on the trader yesterday and there are a few TIIs with new engines all round the £3k+ mark). Also I\'m sure Rich has a few 20B engines lying around waiting for new homes ! Seriously though that\'s the way to view it, get a good engine 13b or even 20b if you could find one and then you\'d have a really nice car. I\'m sure ther\'s someone selling a brand new TII engine on here....

not sure if that is good or bad though

we will give you £350 for the car and sort out pip from our end

you get £350 in your pocket - and not pay pip a penny ( and not to worry about transport costs )
