Did 2nd gens ever come with 4 stud wheels in the UK ? And how much is a pair of TII 4 pot calipers worth in the UK ?

Cheers,

are you trying to uprate the first gen brakes??

i have tried as i want to upgrade mine but with out paying loads of money it is difficult.  I was contemplating bolting the whole 3rd gen subframe to the front of the car, that way you get steering that goes where you want it to go and good brakes. It also takes my 13 b engine.   Although i have already fitted 2nd gen steering to it.
let me know how you get as i have a couple of elford 1 gens that could do with better brakes.  I can do some of the fabricating to make brackets to mount callipers,  the hard bit will be getting bigger discs.

I was thinking about it, CP racing in the states are selling a kit for about £170odd quid that will allow you to bolt up FC 5 stud or 4 stud discs with the 4 pot calipers ... not cheap especially + taxes but I was going to price it up anyway as it should be a no hassle option (??? I\'d hope anyway)

I think Xtreme rotaries in Oz does a kit for volvo 4 pots too (now that really appeals as the volvo bits are cheaper)

EDIT ... how did you conver to a 2nd gen steering rack ? the steering is the one part of the 1st gen I really loathe !

ditto,  the steering frightened me, the only let down of the car, even the brakes are ok for standard power.  I had a turbo 1 13b fitted and the steering box was in the way so the steering had to be changed, this was about 5 years ago before i had the capabilty or knowledge to do it myself so tim at RX motors did it, and if you know tim, he has loads of bits lying around so managed to get egi steering fitted but because the track control arms are opposite, i had to have 16" wheels to get any steering lock.   It is a lot better that 1st gen and will be even better when i can get some shocks and springs for it   (any ideas, was gonna try the states).

Having just fitted a complete cosmo front end to an FD (subframe, steering, shocks, brakes antiroll bar etc., i have a complete FD front end, and it took less than a day to do. Because of the design of the FD suspension, it is all attached to each other so the geometry is set out for you, unlike a turbo two where the top of the shock location affects camber, it makes it very easy, you just need to mount the top of the shock.

If you manage to find anything out let me know cos i get mine back from my dad who has had it for the last 5 years and hardly used it. plus i set the boost to 5 psi before i gave it to him, but when i get it back i will be taking it back to the 250 bhp mark and will need good stoppers, if i decide not fit the fd f/end.

How are you getting on with your gsxr inlet.

I\'ll keep you posted on the brakes, they will be a project for over winter I think as the standard ones are fine at the moment.

a steering rack would be great but as you say its a big job without ditching most of the front end totally. A full TII subrame swap isn\'t too much trouble as someone in the states has done it with no real problems to report.

Its worth getting shocks and springs from the states (ebay is good) as they are really expensive to buy over here and take just as long to arrive in my experience. No idea on springs as i\'m using the standard ones. Although I\'m not happy with the handling yet (its never going to be a \'chuckable\' car anyway but I think its got a lot more to give up) Would like to get some adjustable camber top plates and have the car setup properly before I change anything more though.

The EFI is ongoing ... the brains behind the project is on holiday so its stopped for now but I\'m really keen to see this one through because I think its going to be a really sweet setup (even on an otherwise standard 12a!)

P.S anyone know of prices on a set of good TII calipers ?
