The dull patches could be where the water has gotten in to the laquer.... all you need to do is take the cover off for a few days, possibly a week, then the colour will come back. once this happend, give it a good doing over with a clay bar, polish then wax to seal the paint again! if you let it go too far it will end up the paint will be knackerd & a respray will be in order!!

Quote from: g11ary;542685The problem with doing this is a duvet will attract and hold moister, would you strap a wet sponge to your car over the winter.

yup thats another problem i encounter

but mine is a cab - and the roof does leak on it - so i would rather the duvet cover hold moisture that 6 inch of water in the foot well

at the old house we had a car port - soooooo much easier

Hi RX7

I\'m going to buy an outside Carcoon expensive yes but I know someone who has had one for years without issue it dries the car with a flow of air and conditions the battery. I recently bought a car cover from e-bay it was only £39 from a seller called snowdogs or something similar its very good but in the wind despite having a soft inner lining did mark my black FD. I store my old Lotus every year SORN and will now put the cover from e-bay over it to prevent a layer of dust collecting and that is about the only use for so called outside car covers in my opinion.

I bought a generic cover for about £110 a few years back that you can put on the car wet as it\'s a breathable cover. I have wide arches on my car and it doesn\'t seem to have done anything to the paint.

Trouble when I leave mine out now though is a water leak somewhere around the boot / rear screen seal. Gonna get myself a pet duck for the pond where the bins used to be....

After 4 hours of washing, polishing and waxing all evidence of mondays mishap has vanished, and the car looks great too!

I think the more expensive tighter car covers wont have this effect, the cheaper say Halfords ones will rub.

Might have to invest in a more expensive cover me thinks ??
