As quoted from rotary news,

Additionally, Mazda will extend this eight year/100,000 mile warranty retroactively to all existing 2004-2008 model year RX-8s â€" again, to show their support of the longevity of the engine.

Was part of the release that came with the launch of the R3 model RX8. Thou the article seemed to purely reflect life on the other side of the pond. Just wondering if having the same implimented over in the UK would be too much to ask Mazda for. That is if they aren\'t already doing it? Anyone know?

I put out a the response from Mazda a while back and was told that Mazda "Europe" had no plans to follow as this was purely a Mazda North America "promotional" decision.

Sorry I tried.
All the best Clive

Thats a seriously impressive warranty isn\'t it. Such a shame its not over here to :(

Can\'t say I\'m supprised. But then again gotta look at both sides of the coin I suppose. As for some reason engine mounts and clutch isn\'t covered by Mazda under warranty??? I assume their warranty is pruely engine only. At least for us in the UK, what few years the warranty lasts for it apples to the whole car.

I swear I heard some where that in the UK someone engine went pop out of warrenty and mazda quoted mega money, so the owner went to trading standards or somewhere and mazda had to fix it free of charge

Thats a good point actually, I remember something like that. I forget the details now, but it basically implied they were responsible for any engine that blew?

RX8Head

Their have been a few people who have had engines go pop and even if they were out of warranty most have got Mazda to stump up the money to have it replaced :cool.

A year later and Engines are "popping" like flies in the US and everywhere else.
The real flaw are two fold, carbon and apex seal lubrication.

Owners are not Squirting the RPM\'s out high and often enough, too much Carbon is jamming Seal Springs.

But more seriously the centre of the Apex seal is not being lubricated, thats why the big changes to the Series 2 RENESIS.

So even if you get a new engine from Mazda it\'s not going to change the internal flaw in your engine (series 1 RENESIS).
No matter how many PCM flashes you have had the oil is just not making it to the centre of the Apex seal tip and this is wearing into a concave apex seal which is blowing back and hence poor compressions.

I suggest anyone with a new or low mileage 8 engine to start pre-mixing a good quality 2stroke oil into your fuel at 3 mils per litre, anything less and you are wasting your time.

If you have an old engine over 30,000 miles forget it, the damage is done.,sorry.

And NO, Mazda will not fit a Series II (R3) RENESIS into a Series I car as the engine electrics have slightly changes and PCM. Electric Metering Oil Pumps, etc.
They just won\'t do it.
