If you wanted to be a pain and disable an FD from starting what method would you use?

I was thinking something simple like removing the fuel pump relay?  Simple and not many people would know.

Anybody got any suggestions?

Only reason I ask is that there\'s apparently been alot of performance cars being robbed round here by a gang from manchester.  Reports of them just busting into peoples houses and doing them over taking keys and having off with there cars.  So with a garage full of FD\'s and other imports etc im a little paranoid.

Rip the spark leads off would work..... is there an ignitor pack on the FD?

There is on the old Supra, 1 bolt 2 clips 3 min job. Completely immobile.

Unless they have one of those big pickup trucks of course.

I thought about the spark plugs but it\'s abit of a pain in the ass to remove them over 5 Fd\'s, plus other cars.  Was thinking more along the line of a quick pop the bonnet and done, but nothing blindingly obvious.  As the cars sometimes move during the week for space etc.

Yea, fuel pump relay would be a good one to go for. or just plug the cars in to the mains..... that way you can give the thieving gits a little poke in the morning before the police come along ;)

Ok one last quick question, regarding the right relay is it:

The EGI MAIN RELAY (next to the right hand strut in the first fuse box)
The EGI RELAY (in the slimer fuse box next to the battery)
or
The FUEL PUMP RELAY (at the front left of the engine bay next in slim fuse box)

Im guessing the last one but not 100% sure.

The only thing i\'d worry about by doing something like this is that if the gang dont care about breaking into peoples houses and threatening them so they can steal the car i doubt they\'ll care about smashing the cars up a bit when they cant get them moving or even start them, or even worse come back to get even more violent with you. Just might be more trouble on for you :(

Just take out a fuse, most thugs/****s wont know whats been done, they wil just think its a no go\'er a few turns over and they\'ll leg it.

Often its the simplest of things that will throw the car thief, a simple toggle switch under the dash, easy to flick then getting in and out and most wont look for it, they assume it has a immobiliser on it

If your good with electronics, then a Motec or similar can be made to immobilise as well.

Fuses sound like a good idea, failing that I suggest....LAND MINES :D

If you\'ve got apexi\'s on any of them set the rev limiter at 1000rpm and then remove the commander and no matter what they wont be able to start the car.

rx7ben

All so you could ad to all this and buy a quick release hub adaptor and take your steering wheel with you. Thats what i do, got to do everything possible to stop these f:Grrr:Grrr:Grrring theiving  Ba:Grrr:Grrrards

Two of the FD\'s have apexi\'s, one has a knightsports ecu and the other two have standard ecu\'s.  So abit stuck for doing that with 3 of them.

RX7ben: Steering hub is a good idea but as 4 of them are stock im selling I dont really want to have to spend out more on them.  Plus there are another 4 non-fd\'s in the garage too so dont want to really incur any additional cost.

OK on the steering wheel front you could disconect the air bags ( if they have them) undo the wheel retaining nut, put it in the glove box, & pull the wheels off, then when you want to move them just slip them back on to the spline, move them & then a gentle tug & the wheel is off & back in the house ;) Obviously you are going to need to bolt it up properly when the cars are sold or collected by their owners again ;)
