went to get my aircon looked at today cos it wasn\'t cold, the guy said it was leaking at the compressor suction valve, or something like that. and being a FD he was reluctant to take off the parts to fix it, so I\'ve booked it in at the local Mazda garage for them to check it out(2 weeks time). TBH I don\'t think they know sh*t about  FD\'s, could be wrong... what do you guys think?

NO WAY should you take it to a Mazda garage for that !!!

They don\'t know jack sh*t about FD3\'s and they will certainly not know about aircon, in fact that will probably sub the job out and charge you a nice markup.

Find a better aircon guy, the system in the FD3 is not complicated, it is very conventional, the only issue is that the engine bay is hot and it\'s not very easy to get to all the bits.

I have a local guy down here who was very scared of the car to start with, but now he realises it\'s a very simple system has no problem working on it for me.

Oh, if it\'s a JDM car running R134a, it takes 0.550 Kg of gas and uses ISO 100 oil.

Cheers,

Richard

Richard is right, any normal garage with the equipment to fill AirCon should be able to undertake this job O/K.

yeah i\'d think an air con specialist is best bet, i\'ve heard good things about a place in Leicester which is called cool running as i recall although i haven\'t used them myself as yet sadly i didnt hear about them till i\'d gone to a local place with my scoob & they ballsed up the bearing initially & made a horrible noise although did all get fixed in the end fortunately after a few hot & sweaty weeks.... http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008\' target=\'_blank\'>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_1_9.gif\' border=0> lol
Cant hurt to try a specialist rather than mazda first or at least go & ask for their opinion/costing as a comparison even if you still use sum1 else....

scrap the MAZDA idea then...thanks for replying guys and gals, I did take it to a \'specialist\' and he said he could do it but would take him around 6hrs!! but he didn\'t want to start taking bits outta a car he didn\'t know jack about:( said if it was a clapped out FORD he wouldn\'t have a problem, but being a lovely rare car he didn\'t want to risk it.

I\'ll take it to another place next week and see what they have to say about it.. but  what a time for the aircon to go lol, good job I only drive it once a week:)

hmmm. still need the parts for it though, anyone know where to find out the part number for the aircon compressor suction valve seal thing?

what the website again? Iluvrx7.com or something like that wasn\'t it?

moakesr

EPC doesn\'t list a \'suction valve\'

Common leaks are on the compressor shaft seal, pressure relief valve

Have a look at the following :-
